Liv and Harry didn't stop running until they reached the entrance to the school. Both of them were breathing heavily, their legs feeling like noodles, and both were bent over at the hip with their hands on their knees. Liv's breathing was beginning to return to normal and she lifted her head to look at Harry who also lifted his head with a giant grin plastered to his face.

"You look as if you don't get enough excitement around here."
Liv laughed, still trying to catch her breath. Harry laughed, dropping his gaze from her to his feet and straightening his stance.

"Yeah, I know," he said, his tone slightly sad. "It's just nice to get an adrenaline rush from something other than defending yourself against people who want you dead."

Just as the words left his lips, the dark figure of Severus Snape loomed over the two.

"Speaking of people who want me dead..." Harry mumbled, only loud enough for Liv to hear. She coughed, covering the laugh and snort that was about to escape her, and that earned her a look from the professor.

"Might I ask why the two of you look like—" Snape looked the pair up and down (with an extra look of disdain in Harry's direction) trying to describe their poor appearance. His eyes finally settled on the gash on Liv's cheek. His dark, imposing gaze sent chills down her spine. When he found he didn't have any insults at the present moment, he continued, "Nevermind." (With slight emphasis of annoyance on the "d") "Just go to the hospital wing and back to your common room."

And with that, he turned on his heel and briskly walked away from the bloody teenagers, his black robes flowing behind him. After he turned a corner, Liv sighed in relief happy they got away without a detention. She turned to Harry, only to see his eyes were wide with disbelief.

"What?" she said to him. "We got lucky we didn't get a detention."

Harry stared in the direction the professor had left for a second longer before replying.

"He didn't even have an insult for us, Liv. I mean look at us, we're both a complete mess right now and he didn't have a single remark. I'm positive we just set a new record."

Harry still looked stunned. Liv nodded her head in agreement. It was strange, unheard of even, to walk away from Snape completely unscathed (in a figurative sense of course). Even though she still wasn't sure how she knew half the things she talked about—or thought about for that matter—she did get the feeling that the sarcastic professor favored his own house over the others and that she had managed to be one of his favorites. If that was even a thing, it was impossible to read the man.
