As soon as the hour was up, Liv hurriedly threw her papers and quill into her bag and speed-walked to the door, not daring to look back at Theo. She only slowed to a normal paced walk when Harry, Hermione, and Ron caught up to her. She watched as Hermione looked at her flustered expression quizzically before turning to Harry and Ron, telling them that they'd catch up to them later. As soon as the boys had rounded the corner, Hermione turned to Liv.

"What's up with you today? I mean yesterday you were sick, which you never are, and today you look like you're about to crawl out of your own skin."

Hermione's eyes were full of concern as Liv finally met her gaze and sighed.

"I don't know, Hermione. I guess I'm just out of it today because someone from my house actually acknowledged me last night and today. Didn't you see him sit next to me? No one sits next to me ever."

"Oh you mean that Nott guy?"
Liv nodded in response. "I saw him sit next to you today, but what do you mean by 'last night'?"

Hermione raised her eyebrows with the question.

"Hermione!" Liv could feel herself blush slightly before she defended herself. "What I mean by 'last night' is that I was up reading alone in the common room at like three in the morning and he came down from the dorms. He didn't see me at first, but then I kind of scared him when he realized I was sitting there and that was it."

"That was it? You didn't even talk to each other and you freak out like this?"

"We did talk!...Although it was very much. It was really just him asking me how long I had been reading and why I wasn't sleeping."

"And what was your answer? Come on Liv, you know I need details!"

"I just said that it had been four hours and that I didn't need to sleep."

Liv's answer was blunt, but honest and Hermione knew that was all the details she was going to get out of her.

"Well that sounds like a great start to a relationship." Hermione said brightly, her voice also tinged with obvious sarcasm. "Step one; let him know that you're an insomniac."

At first Liv's eyes went alarmingly wide, but she relaxed once her friend laughed at her expression and then joined in on the joke.

"So, care to tell me what the next step is, Hermione?"

"Well my young apprentice, I shall teach you my ways..." Hermione continued as the two girls walked to their next classes.

"Oh mistress," Liv interrupted. "This is such powerful advice, especially coming from you."

"Oh shut up, Liv!"

Hermione reached to punch her in the arm, but Liv skittered away into a classroom, leaving Hermione to be pushed along with the wave of the crowd.
