The early morning light that broke through her curtains woke Liv from her dreamless sleep.
Letting out a slight groan, she donned her daily uniform and pulled her hair back in a quick bun, not even bothering with the wispy strands that escaped. Trotting quickly down the stairs with her satchel over her shoulder, she endured the silence that she met in the common room and exited through the door, leaving the few that dared to stare at her behind. She had a promise to keep to people who actually treated her as if she existed.

She entered the Great Hall and her eyes found the red hair of Ron Weasley immediately. A genuine smile found its way to her face as she sat down to a heated conversation between Harry and Ron over quidditch stats. Truthfully, Liv didn't know the first thing about quidditch, but she knew she did enjoy a good match from time to time (especially those between Gryffindor and Slytherin, as she loved to see the face of Draco Malfoy when he lost to Harry). She preferred to be lost in a book or even homework when it came to activities outside of classes, of which she was already dreading the make-up work.

Lucky for her, she knew she had Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall, who had come to like Liv despite her being in a rival house. Liv respected the witch to an extent she would never know; she looked up to her for her magical abilities, from a patronus charm to transforming herself into the form of a housecat, Professor McGonagall could do it all flawlessly.

Liv was early as usual to the Transfiguration classroom and took her normal seat on the Slytherin side, as close to Harry, Hermione and Ron as possible.
She didn't worry about anyone sitting next to her; one, because everyone from her house seemed to avoid her like the plague and two, because they wanted nothing to do with the Gryffindor trio.

As more students filed into the class, Liv busied herself with reading the chapter for the week in an attempt to avoid any death glares or sneers from people such as Pansy. She was so absorbed in the lesson that she didn't notice the thin figure that took the seat to her right. She only lifted her head when Professor McGonagall cleared her throat and began her lecture on a bird-conjuring charm they would be working on next week since today was a Friday.

The professor also assigned homework for over the weekend, causing the entire class to groan outwardly as this weekend was a Hogsmeade weekend.

Liv stiffened when she heard someone mutter something next to her and her eyes were wide when she turned her head slightly to find that Theodore Nott had taken the usually vacant seat next to her.

Quickly directing her gaze to something other than him, Liv could feel her anxiety growing as her heart hammered in her chest and her breath caught in her lungs. She didn't understand why this emotion occurred because of one person, but it was enough to distract her for the remainder of class.
