"And then we to the movies mommy." Addie jumped up and down onto her mother's belly unaware that she was in pain.

The force of the little girl's body felt like a ton of bricks smashing onto Lauren's rib cage.

Lauren did her best hiding her pain. She didn't want her daughter to ever think of her as a weak woman. No matter what she went through she never let her daughter know.

"Awe baby you had fun?" Lauren used her fragile arms to stop Addie from jumping by bringing her into a hug.

"Yes, but mommy that's not it." Lauren excitedly said she wanted to tell her mommy all the adventures she experienced with her father.

"What else happened baby?" Lauren spoke just above a whisper. She didn't want Wayne to hear any part of their conversation.

"He took me for ice cweam." Addie laid her body onto her mother's stomach balancing her head between her hands starring right into her face. "And den' mommy da' lady at da' ice cweam kept starring at daddy so I got mad." Addie rolled her eyes.

"You are something else little girl." She shook her head. "But Guess what?" Lauren smiled at  her baby girl.

"Wait." Addie placed her fingers over her mother's lips to prevent her from speaking. "Wait, me first."

"What fat?" Lauren have her daughter all her attention.

Addie moved so her face was in front of Lauren's ear then she cupped her hands to protect what she would say next.

"Do you miss daddy?" Addie whispered then brought her body back in front of her mother's face.

"That's none of your business little one." She pinched her nose.

Once out of her mother's release Addie covered her nose. "Pwease, tell me mommy." Addie begged.

"Uh uh." Lauren shook her head.

"Mommy." Addie wined throwing her head back.

"Why do you want to know so bad?" She eyed Addie. She knew exactly who put her up to this.

"I just do mommy." Addie smiled innocently.

"I don't know if I miss daddy. Do you think I do?" Lauren didn't want to tell Addie that she didn't miss Ajayy because it would hurt her feelings, and she didn't want to tell her that she did because then Ajayy might take it the wrong way.

"I tink you do momma."

"Well maybe I do, but now it's my turn baby guess what?"she say up pulling Addie into her lap.

"What?"

"Nana wants you to spend the night at her house. And she's going to take you to school tomorrow since it's grandparents day." Lauren explained to Addie.

Momma Nae had become aware of the fact that Lauren was being abused before anyone else, but she didn't want to confront Lauren about it until she was ready because her being in that situation before she knew how hard it was to open it about it. She picked Addie up as often as she could to take a little weight off of Lauren's shoulders and to keep Addie out of this toxic environment.
