Chapter 1
Shawn's POV
I slid my motorcycle into a parking space in front of my new school and had just pulled off my helmet when a pickup literally roared into the space beside me. It was a black pickup jacked up on monster truck wheels with mud thrown all over the sides. I expected a huge redneck to hop out of that truck, but that's not what I saw. Instead, out jumps a girl. She's wearing a baggy shirt, cargo pants, scuffed sneakers, no makeup, and her long hair is thrown into a pony tail, but she is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen. The only thing subtracting from her beauty is the shiner on her left eye. I was surprised at the rage that ran through my body. I mean, I don't even know this chick! I still wanted to beat whoever had put that mark on her. I watched as she walked past a few people and they didn't even glance twice. I wonder if this is normal for her. She walked up to a bunch of boys and started talking. Ah, a tomboy.
I quit watching her and grabbed my bag off the back of my bike, heading into the school. I pass through the front doors and make my way to the principal's office. The secretary is sitting there typing away on the computer in front of her. "Ma'am?" I said trying to get her attention. "Yes?" she asked as she looked up. "My name's Shawn Ross, I'm new, and I need my information, please." I gave her my most charming smile. "Ahh, the new boy." She grabbed a few sheets of paper from a stack on her desk. "Here's your schedule, locker assignment, and a school map. Have a nice day!" "Thank you." I walked out. I didn’t have anything to put in my locker, so I located my first period class on the map, English with Mrs. Locke, and started towards it. I found it and stood in the open doorway waiting for the teacher to look over. When she did, she motioned me in and announced, “Class, we have a new student joining us.” Then she looked over at me, “Please introduce yourself to the class.” I smirked, ”The name’s Ross. Shawn Ross.” I’ve always wanted to do that.
I could see a few girls already drooling over me, but I was used to that. Mrs. Locke spoke again, drawing my attention. She handed me a book and a workbook. "Let's see here, you will be sitting by Charlie. Charlie, raise your hand." I heard a sigh and a few chuckles. I looked at the person raising their hand and was surprised to see the girl from earlier. I smirked and walk back to sit next to her. I put out a hand, "I'm Shawn." She glanced at my hand, then my face and said icily, "I heard." She turned around and started talking to the group of guys that surrounded her. Well that was a first.
