Chapter 9
Shawn's POV
I still cannot believe what just happened. Charlie took me under her wing and announced that I was now part of her group. I guess this is her way of helping me out. I shouldn't take it to mean anything else, but I kind of want to. Wait, what the hell am I thinking?! I can get any of these girls, but why do I want the one that wants nothing to do with me. In that way, anyways.
I need to find me a girl to take my mind off of Charlie. There's this really cute redhead in Biology with me and Charlie. I think her name's Rachel, but I'm not sure. I think I will talk to her today and get to know her a little.
~Biology~
I walked into class and had a while before class started, so I looked around for that cute redhead. There she was, sitting alone at her desk. She was so cute, with her long red hair, big green doe eyes, and her huge nerd glasses. I walked over and sat next to her. "Hey, cutie, I'm Shawn." She blushed as she looked up. "H-h-hi," she said softly, tucking a piece of hair behind one ear. I cocked my head to the side,"What's your name?" "Rosalynn." I smirked,"That's a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." Her face turned as red as her hair, and then the bell rang.
I went to my assigned seat next to Charlie, who wouldn't look me in the eye for some reason. After Biology, I grabbed Rosalynn's arm and put my number in her hand. "You're cute. We should hang out together sometime. Call me." I walked off to my next class.
After school, I walked out to meet Charlie at her truck. We hopped in and headed off, in complete silence. We weren't halfway home when my phone rang. I pulled it out and looked at the caller ID, and it was unknown. "Hello?" I answered cautiously. "Hey Shawn, it's Rosalynn. Wanna hang out at the park?" "Ummmm," I looked over at Charlie. She is good at reading people because she asked," What the hell do you want?" I smiled sheepishly, "Drop me off at the park, pweez??" She sighed, "Why?" "I'm meeting Rosalynn." She grit her teeth and narrow her eyes, but she turned the truck to head that way.
She dropped me off, "Call me if you want a ride home." I nodded and she sped off. I smiled as I walked up to Rosalynn. "Did you just get out of Charlie Dawn's truck?" I nodded, "She lives near me, and since my bike tires got slashed..." I trailed off. She nodded. We spent a good three hours at the park just hanging out and talking. "Do you have a ride home?" I asked her. She shook her head, "I was hoping you could take me home." I nodded. I pulled out my phone and dialed Charlie's number. "What?" a grumpy, groggy voice answered. "Can you come pick me and Rosalynn up and drive us both home?" I heard an indistinct sound and then she hung up. I guess she's coming, I thought to myself.
Ten minutes later, the truck pulled up to the park. I opened the doors and we hopped in. "Where to?" asked Charlie. I looked over at her and my jaw dropped. Instead of the pony tail, t-shirt, baggy cargos outfits I had been expecting, she was wearing a tank top, pj pants, and her long hair was loosely curly down her back. "Madison Avenue," Rosalynn answered. We dropped her off and headed home.
We got out at Charlie's house and I noticed she was barefoot and her hair was almost to her knees. Wow. Then I noticed a bulge on her hip. "Charlie, what's that?" I asked, pointing to her hip. She reached into the waistband of her pants and pulled out a revolver, "Protection." She turned around and walked into her house, "Good night." The door shut and I heard her lock it. "Good night," I whispered to myself.
