Chapter 10
Charlie's POV
I walked through school in a daze, still not believing my actions from this morning. At least, in a daze until lunch when I had to feed the monster that is my stomach. Afterwards, I headed to Biology. Shawn usually got in here before I did, but he wasn't in his seat. I looked around and noticed him talking to Rosalynn. He said something and she blushed, talking...more like flirting with. Now, why did I feel so angry? And so sad? There's no way I have a crush on that egotistical jerk. Or do I? Nope, I don't.
The bell rang, and Shawn slowly made his way over to his seat next to me. I couldn't look him in the eye. Don't ask me why, but I couldn't. Biology seemed to rush by, and so did the rest of my classes.
I met Shawn out by the truck like usual, and I started to head home. We had barely started when his phone rang. "Hello?" he answered cautiously. The person on the other end said something. "Ummmmmm," he said looking over at me. "What the hell do you want?" He smiled sheepishly and gave me a puppy dog face, "Drop me off at the park, pweez?" I rolled my eyes, "Why?" "I'm meeting Rosalynn," he said with a hopeless grin on his face. Her again? I grit my teeth and narrowed my eyes. I turned the truck towards the park anyways though.
After I dropped Shawn off at the park and told him to call me if he needed a ride home, I headed back to my house and changed into my pjs. I let my long hair down and hopped into bed with a good book.
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing; I must've fallen asleep reading. "What?" I asked groggily, and a little grumpily. Shawn's cocky voice hit my ears, "Can you come pick me and Rosalynn up and drive us both home?" I made some sort of sound and hung up. I grabbed the revolver off my night stand and stuck it into the waistband off my pants. I trotted out to the truck, not even bothering with shoes. Didn't like the damn things anyways.
Ten minutes later I pulled up to the park. Like a gentleman, Shawn helped Rosalynn in first then hopped in himself. "Where to?" I asked no one in particular. "Madison Avenue," Rosalynn answered. I looked over at her and Shawn. Shawn's jaw was dropped and I realized I was still in my pjs. Oops.
I dropped Rosalynn off, and headed home. I parked in my garage and we got out. Shawn was staring at me, and realized I must look crazy. I was barefoot and my hair was almost to my knees. Then I realized he was staring at my hip. "Charlie, what's that?" he asked, pointing. I pulled out the revolver and held it up, "Protection." I swear his eyes popped outta his head. I turned and walked into my house, "Good night." I closed the door and locked it. Then, I went back to bed, from which Shawn had rudely pulled me. That night I dreamed of Shawn, for some odd reason.
