Hello!  Even though it's only May, I had this idea pop into my head for a christmas story so here it is!  Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy!  (Y/N/N means your nickname, btw.)

I hear my phone ringing from the living room and I run from the kitchen to get it.  I look at the caller ID seeing it's my mom calling and answer.

"Hey mom!" I say.

"Hello sweetie!  How are you?" she replies in her usual tone.

"I'm great, just a little tired.  Niall and I have been so busy this week.  I've had a lot of stuff going on at work and he's been in the studio working on some new songs for a christmas album the guys are doing."

"That's wonderful that they are doing another album; I know they haven't done one in a while."

"Yeah, Niall is really excited to be working with them again."

"Oh, speaking of Christmas.  Are you coming home for our christmas party this year?  You've missed it the past few years and the rest of the family wants to see you and meet your boyfriend," my mother says sweetly hoping I will come back to visit.

"I uh- I don't know."

"I know you miss your grandma dear, but everybody else really misses you," my mother says sadly.

"But Christmas just isn't the same without her," I reply as memories of my grandma's funeral from a few years ago flashes through my mind.

My grandmother and I were really close.  My grandpa passed a few years before her so she was always around us at our home.  During that time I grew even closer with her so her death was very hard on me.  I haven't gone to a single family christmas party since then because its not the same without her.

"I know, but it's not the same without you.  Your brothers and their families are coming this year.  They both got the time off of work that whole week so they are staying in town."

"I miss you all too.  Maybe I can come back for easter or something?  Niall and I were thinking about having a small party with Louis, Liam, and Harry and their families this year,"  I say, trying to come up with an excuse not to go.

"They are all welcome to come!  The parties have been really small the past few years; a lot of the older distant family members have passed now," she replies.

"I know.  I have to talk to Ni and then I'll let you know, okay?"

"Okay honey.  I have to go, but I hope the rest of your week ends well," she answers.

"I love you mom.  Tell dad I say hello."

"Will do.  I love you too sweetheart."

"I love you," I say one more time as I hang up the phone.  I place my phone back down onto the coffee table as Niall walks into the room.

"Who was that?" he asks.

"It was my mom.  She was just wondering if I am coming home for Christmas this year."

"We should!  We haven't seen your parents in ages and I know you haven't been back there for a while."

"Yeah, but I don't like being there for Christmas anymore; it brings back too many memories of my grandma," I reply as tears fill my eyes.

"Hey, don't cry.  I still think it would be a good idea.  That way we can see your whole family.  I'll be there with you the whole time so you don't need to worry about it.  If things get hard we can step out for a minute to calm down," he explains.

"I don't think I can Ni," I say and the tears roll down my cheeks.

"Yes you can Y/N/N.  I believe in you."
