Teach Me

"Niall?" I yell throughout his house.  I am supposed to come over and meet Niall at his house for dinner, but I just showed up and I don't see him anywhere.

I wander around wondering where I could find him.  He said he has been writing and working on some songs lately with the guys; maybe he's in the studio?  I walk up to the studio doors in the basement and look in through the glass window.  My guess is correct as I see him very focused on the music in front of him on the piano.

Carefully, I open the door and walk in trying not to make a sound.  He does hear me, but he simply just turns around and keeps playing the song.  

"Is that a new song?" I ask as he finishes playing.

"Yeah," he says with a big smile on his face.  "It's my favorite song so far."

"It is beautiful," I say and sit next to him on the grand piano bench.  "Hey Niall?"

"Yes beautiful?" he asks looking at me.

"Can you teach me how to play it?" I ask nervously.

"Of course!"

Niall and I sat there for about an hour and he taught me the basics on piano, like what notes are which and how to read the music, since I have never played.  We were working on basics for a few days that week when we had free time.  After a few days Niall started teaching me how to play the beginning of the song.  He was surprised with how quickly I was learning.

Obviously, I still was not very good at playing piano, but I had my heart set on learning this song.  I practiced as much as I can with Niall, and even sometimes without him.  Eventually I got it down.  

Today I am sitting in his small recording studio playing the song, which I had just finished learning earlier in the day, when Niall walks in.

"How's it coming babe?" he asks.

"I finished it!" I say with a huge smile on my face.

"Can I hear it?" he asks and I eagerly nod.

I start at the beginning of the song, slowly playing the beautiful chords.  As I play, Niall sits down next to me and starts singing.  I have never actually heard the lyrics before because that is what Niall has been working on with Harry, Louis, Liam, and some other songwriters.

"If I could fly," Niall sings while I play.  "I'd be coming right back home to you."

I continue playing and Niall keeps singing until the last line of the song.

"For your eyes only," Niall sings and the song ends.

"I have never heard the lyrics before, that was beautiful Ni!" I say.

"I know!  I can't believe you learned that whole song in just a few weeks!"

"I really wanted to surprise you," I confess.  "Plus, I had a great teacher," I add on after a moment before winking at my boyfriend.

"Who me?" he jokes causing us both to laugh.

"Thank you for teaching me how to play that song," I say.

"It was my pleasure.  Maybe I'll get some help writing a song with a piano duet and we both can play together," he suggested.

"Really?" I ask excitedly.

"Yeah," he answers and we both laugh.

"What is the title of that song?"

"If I Could Fly."

"I love it," I say with a smile and look at Niall.

We make eye contact and all of the feelings while he was serenading me earlier came back.  Niall slowly leans towards me and plants a soft kiss on my lips.  The kiss is very sweet and, well, I can't really put it into words.  It was amazing.  Somehow, in that kiss, Niall made me feel like the most special girl in the world.  I love being around him and I really hope our relationship lasts forever.  I think I love Niall Horan...
