Niall's POV
This new cookie shop, called Addiction, got put in down the road from my flat a few weeks ago. It's been open less than a month and I have already been there 10 times. The cookies are so good and I completely understand why it is called Addiction. I am addicted! They have every cookie imaginable. There are chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, mint chip, oatmeal, peanut butter, cake batter, and even a peanut butter chocolate fudge cookie! They've got over 30 different kinds of cookies every day and if you want a special kind, you can order it and they will make a special batch just for you!
Why did it have to open up down the road? I can't stop myself from going there. Especially tonight.
It is Friday night and what better to do with my time off than have a movie marathon at home? I was in the studio for the whole day and just want to relax. Quickly, I scan my cabinet with all of my movies and pick out my favorite ones and pop one in the DVD player at a time.
As I finish up the second movie of the night, my stomach starts to growl and I decide it is time for a snack. I slide on a black beanie and some shoes before grabbing my wallet and heading out the door. Since it is fall, it is getting quite chilly out so I wrap my sweatshirt covered arms around my body to attempt to stay warm.
I walk down the street and arrive at the cookie shop, which luckily for me is open 24/7 seeing as it is 10 o'clock. I step inside the warm bakery and smell the sweet scent of fresh cookies. I walk up to the front counter as a girl around my age walks out from the back room.
"Hello, welcome to Addiction, how can I help you?" she greets with a tired smile and her rehearsed lines. She is really beautiful with long dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail. She is wearing the required black outfit for the bakery with the red apron over it. Even though the outfit isn't supposed to look fashionable, she somehow pulls it off and looks hot.
I look back at her face as she waits for my order and I freeze. I'm suddenly nervous, which doesn't happen very often. I usually don't have a hard time with words at all, but she makes me stutter.
"I-I-I'll have the..." I start and look around at the numerous flavors of cookies not knowing what I want.
"The cookie of the day is our chocolate mousse cookie," she says sweetly as if chocolate is dripping from her tongue. Chocolate. Chocolate sounds good.
"I'll have the, uh, triple chocolate chip cookie."
"Okay, lucky for you those just finished baking before you came in! How many would you like?"
"Um.. Two please." God, could I be any more awkward?
"That will be 5 pounds," she replies with a slight smile as I hand her the money. "Your cookies will be coming right up."
She walks to the back room where I can smell fresh cookies. The showcase, where the cookies are usually stocked full, is almost empty. The girl returns a minute later with the bag of cookies. I shakily grab the bag from her hand and give an awkward side smile, I really need to work on that.
"Th-thanks," I reply looking down and she gives a little laugh.
"No problem," she smiles. "But you don't need to be nervous."
What? She knows that I'm nervous? How? Don't be stupid Niall! It's obvious. You were shaking and stuttering and you couldn't even look her in the gorgeous blue eyes when you talked. Ugh!
"I-I'm not nervous," I reply trying to sound relaxed and not nervous (which I definitely am).
"Just keep telling yourself that," she laughs. "But I think you're kinda cute."
Cute. Me? Cute? She likes me? Calm down Niall. Chill.
I can't think of how to respond without completely embarrassing myself so I just look at my feet trying to hide the heat coming to my face. No doubt, my cheeks are splotchy red. It gets like that whenever I am excited, nervous, or embarrassed which is insanely annoying.
"Here's my number. Feel free to call or text me any time," she says flirty as she hands me a piece of paper. "My name's Y/N, by the way."
"Niall," I reply and extend my hand very stick like towards her.
"Well, Niall, you better enjoy those cookies."
"Oh, I will," I reply with a grin on my face and turn towards the door.
"Have a good night."
"You too. And I think you're kinda cute too," I say feeling a sudden burst of confidence which disappears as I finish the sentence.
"Thank you," she replies as it is her turn to blush.
This has been the best cookie run ever! I'm definitely coming back.
