Him (TWD//Merle//)

Chapter 7

The first thing that fills my sight is the reuniting of Rick and his family.

Lucky guy, I sigh.

"Come meet everyone," Andrea says, and pulls me by the arm to meet person after person.

After I've met everyone, relief fills me. These people, they're friendly and they're accepting. I think it's just what I need.

"Sweetheart," I hear Rick say to his wife, "Where is our tent, I think I wanna change out of these filthy clothes."

Lori chuckles, " You're right, you stink honey. It's right over here," she responds and leads him over to a beige tent.

Shit, where do i sleep.

I walk over to Dale, a kind old man I met a few moments ago.

"Hey Dale, I was wondering where I could crash later tonight," I start out sheepishly, "Do you know of anyone with extra space?"

"Of coarse hon. I would reccomend Glenn, but rumors are that he toots in his sleep," he chuckles and I grimace.

"Why don't you try Shane," he points to a man wearing a police cap.

"Ah hell naw," Merle comes up behind me, "You can sleep in my tent sugar, ain't no way you gonna be in a tent with that man. He'll have tried to jump your bones by mornin'. Yur sleepin' in my tent."

I'm a little stunned. The Merle Dixon cares about my well-being.

" Oh, alright. Uhm thanks Merle," I manage to choke out.

Sleeping in the same tent as Merle?! Why am i agreeing with this?

"Mhmm," he hums and tugs me toward his tent.

There are two sleeping bags on either side of the tent, that look occupied. He unfolds his bag and lays it out, and puts a large comforter on top.

"We can share," He grins toothily.

"Ha!" i bark out a laugh, " In your dreams Dixon."

"Maybe," he winks back.

I roll my eyes and pick up the comforter.

"You take the bag and I'll take the comforter," I compromise.

"Alright," he sighs, playfully disappointed. This makes me crack a smile.

"Now lets go get some grub," he walks out of the tent and toward the picnic table.

Oh Merle, you adorable man.
