"Girl would you stop!"
"What? I'm just saying. You and Jordan can't help yourselves."
"Amber honestly, I don't know why I still talk to you."
"Well I can answer that. It's because I'm your inside man. I'm the one that's allowing you to still be in Minnesota when your wedding is literally three weeks away so that you could go to school. But instead you are there screwing your fiance and having fun while I'm here doing all the work."
If were to be honest with myself, I was having a little more fun than those in Boston. They were doing all that they could to make sure that Jordan and I had a great wedding. Everyone was helping us. Especially our parents and my best friend Amber.
"Amber, I'm sorry. I guess your right. I probably shouldn't be having all this fun. That's why Jordan and I decided not to sleep together. We felt as though We should cut back on the excitement for everyone back home because we don't see it to be fair to you guys. Having to stress with us." At this point I start to feel sad and then angry at myself.
How could I be so selfish?
As Amber tries to calm me down, Jordan comes into the kitchen to where I am sitting. Seeing my disposition he leans down and kisses me. His kiss sparks a fire and he realizes it and gives me the sweetest smile that reveals his crooked incisor.
That really didn't help with the strong beating of my heart.
Hearing my name being shouted through the receiver I go back to my conversation.
"Hey Amber, I'm a have to call you back. Okay?"
"What? Mr. Prince Charming finally woke up?"
Smiling and looking at Jordan as he starts to prepare us breakfast.
"Goodbye Amber."
"Bye Jade."
Jordan runs over tome with the phone and shouts,
"Bye Amber. I miss you!"
"Whatever Jordan. See you guys later."
"Bye" Jordan and eye say in unison. As I hang up the phone Jordan wraps his hands around me.
"Hey Jade. Can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure. What is it?" Finishing my sentence I leave his arms and go towards the kitchen where Jordan had started making some blueberry waffles. I stand there in shock.
I know this breakfast food.
Jordan only makes blueberry waffles when he wants me to agree with him on something. But I will not give in this time.
At least I hope not.
"I was thinking"
I interrupt him not wanting him to say something that I don't want to hear.
"Oh! That's never a good thing. When you start thinking nothing goes according to plan."
"Really! Hear me out."
"Okay."
"Well after we had sex the other night....."
I knew it I did something wrong. Maybe I was too bold. He probably wanted to have a little more control over what happened that night.
Jordan snaps me out of my thinking.
"Jade I need you to stay focus here. I am being really serious."
"I understand. Please continue." He lets out a breath.
"After we had sex the other night I felt like I was on top of the world. You made me so happy. And even after two years i learned a lot about you that night. Like your a moaner and you like to be in charge which I don't mind."
I let out a breathe that I didn't notice I was holding in.
"So what is the problem?" I ask.
"Well we want each other so badly. And I hate how we are hurting each other by not being together fully. So..."
Is he leaving? I don't understand.
As I feel tears begin to burn the back of my eyes I voice my thoughts.
"Jordan are you trying to tell me that you want to leave or something?"
He walks over to my spot in the kitchen and stands behind me, wraps his hands around my waist and nuzzles my neck. My muscles begin to relax.
"Jade, I'm not planning on leaving you anytime soon. I want you in more ways than one. That's why I was wondering if we should get married earlier?"
That's what these waffles are about. He still wants to marry me it's just that he wants to do it earlier.
I say with relief in my voice, "I don't think that we should. Everyone is prepared for the end of this month."
"I know, but like you said the other night you are tired of waiting. And honestly so am I."
"Jordan we can't do that. Things are already in place. It would be even more frustrating if we push the date up."
"Okay. I see what you saying or at least I hear what your saying. I guess it would be pretty tedious."
Placing two waffles on each of our plates I try to lighten the mood.
"Look at you using big words like tedious."
Giving me a sly look and grin he replies, "Well I have to keep up with my wife. She's a English Major you know."
"Well I hope you can keep up with her."
After we finish our breakfast, Jordan and I go to the pool in our backyard. After he does a couple of laps in the pool he comes out and falls asleep in my lap where I'm reading a book under a tree that reminds me of the one from the park back in Boston.
I wish all days could be like this one.
