We sat inside and played poker and smoked, I no longer felt the need to step outside, I talked to Tara. Tara had puffs of mine and Blaze's cigarettes but she isn't a smoker, never was. Either is Blaze by the looks of it, he smokes one or two he gets of Keller. Everyone joked around and bugged Tara and told her she looked fine. Taren kept checking her out but always got glares from me and Blaze. I don't even think Blaze knew he was doing it and me well I even slapped him a couple times and told him to get his eyes off my sister.
I pulled up a bench and Tara sat beside me and Blaze was on her other side. I must say she has changed in some ways but she is still the same old Tara. Now instead of wearing clothes to hide her figure, which I believe I only knew about because I was the only one to see her in non-baggy clothes, she is swearing form fitting outfits. I must say she really did take care of herself and I don't mean by not letting the boys touch her but she is perfectly healthy. I really did miss her, my sister.
I looked down at her and smiled. She was asleep now and was resting her head on my leg. Blaze couldn't seem to believe that she had fallen asleep because he claims to have seen her many times out very late and wide awake but she was always a sleeper. That girl could sleep anywhere I swear. Tara told me about Chase and how it was the same guy that tried to kidnap her all those years ago, Blaze added in that she was stupid enough to fall asleep on a park bench.
Tara was a lot of things but stupid was not one of them, I had to wonder what happened for her to do that. Yet now I was completely happy with her sleeping on my leg. It reminded me of when we were little and I would make my money to survive and she peacefully napped till I carried her out the door when it was time to go. She was usually wake up then and claim she was awake, just resting her eyes. Then demand to be put down while falling back asleep in my arms.
I saw Blaze look at me weird a couple times, almost warning me to try something. I would never though, Tara was my sister and I never felt anything other then family love towards her. Blaze looked at me again and I slowly got up, taking off my leather jacket and placing it on the bench before I genitally laid her head on it. She made a weak sound of protest and tried to garb my leg but missed by a long shot and just cuddled up to my jacket. I smiled down at her and rolled my eyes. She really hasn't changed much at all.
I looked over to Blaze and he stood up and we went outside for a smoke. I gave him a cigarette and got one for myself while resting against the wall. "You better not hurt her," I said, not looking at him. "What?" he asked, starting into the side of my head. "I said you better not hurt her, she's my sister and if you hurt her I will have to kill you," I replied, only partly joking. I looked over to him and he was looking out, down the street. He glanced over to me and took another drag of him smoke.
"Couldn't hurt her if I wanted to, she's not my girl," Blaze said, adding a slight chuckle at the end and blowing smoke into the cold air. "The way she looks at you," I started before sighing, "just watch what you say to her." Blaze looked at me weird before shaking his head, "she likes that popular guy, Matthew, he's better for her to." Popular guy, that didn't sound like Tara as much, then again she always had the best. I don't think she cared that much about this Matthew, I bet he doesn't know anything about this life and this life is more her then even she knows.
I can tell that she was happy to fight and the way she talked about her richer, "better" life it didn't hold happiness. She needs a challenge, I think that is why she took over all those schools, it was the best fight she could get. "She doesn't want a popular guy, she wants a guy who knows what she is going through, he may be better for her because he has a better background but even though Tara is an amazing fighter she still need someone who can look after her," I commented. "You can say that again," Blaze chuckled, thinking back to what I am guessing is the times he had to save her.
"I swear to god that girl is like a trouble magnet," I added, thinking back to all the shit she would get into before. "Yea, she will be the death of me, I can see it now," Blaze said and I nodded my head. She doesn't even know all the shit I saved her from, though she did an amazing job of taking care of herself. She could beat any one guy, hell even two or three guys, but just sometimes she would create an angery mob.
"I will protect her you know," Blaze says, glancing over at me. "I know," I replied. He nodded and took another drag, "I can see you will." I smiled at that, "I will protect her with my life, she is the only family I have." Blaze looked down and kicked at rock that was at his feet, "You not the only one without family in this life, you have Tara, your lucky." I was lucky, I know most people live alone, just like I did when Tara left. Tara had her mom and me but she just got thrown into the world from living a perfect life. It was hard and I saw her cry many times over her dad, I was the only one she would cry in front of and she is the only one who has seen me cry when I cried once.
"You have her to, you may think you are alone but well, you have her now to," I said while putting out my smoke. For once I felt close to Blaze, I felt like he would be a good friend. He has a hard front like me but a softer inside, I could tell he was good in the life but if he grew up somewhere else then he wouldn't be in trouble. Tara will be good for him, teach Blaze to laugh like she taught me. I walked inside and saw Tara slowly sitting up, rubbing her eyes.
"Sleeping beauty is up," Keller joked, getting a glare. "Shut up," she joked at Keller before mumbling, "I cant believe I really fell asleep." I rolled my eyes and Marley smiled, "Kiddo, you used to always fall asleep." A scowl formed on her face, "Shush that was forever ago and I'm no kiddo." Tara always hated being called Kiddo but she was always the youngest. "Your a kiddo compared to me, your like sixteen and I'm thirty, so your are a kid," Marley said chuckle. Tara rolled her eyes and looked over at Blaze, "well he's a kid to then." Leave it to Tara to make someone else part of the "kid" group. "He sure is," Marley commented, "hell all you guys are kids compared to me." That caused Smithy to send him a glare and hit him in the side of the arm, "forgetting about me?" Marley chuckled, "Of course not, fine everyone is a kid except Smithy who is one year older then me."
I rolled my eyes, these guys are so fucked. Everyone was different ages, Smithy was the oldest at thirty one, then Marley at thirty two. Taren and Keller were both twenty six and now became the best of friends ever since Taren came and joined our group. Then there is me being nineteen and Tara, Blaze, and Bry are all sixteen. Bry and Blaze are a team and came into the poker games together and Keller and Taren are great friend but other then that we aren't anything we would call best friends. We would all help each other if we needed it but we would kill each other if we needed to.
Now there is me and Tara and well I'm guessing Tara and Blaze. Tara I am guessing wouldn't want to ever hurt anyone else, apart from Bry, though and would do the hard way if there was one instead of killing them. Not to say we all would kill each other right away but well Tara is probably the least likely. Tara is all of our little sisters to and would protect her, just not the same degree as I would.
The game was now finished and Tara, me, and Blaze walked out of the building together. I started walking towards my car and Blaze started walking towards his bike a Tara stood in the middle looking at both of us. "Am I driving back with you," she asked Blaze. "Thought so but," he trailed off, looking at me. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around me, collecting her into a big bear hug. "Cant breath," she joked and I let go smiling down at her. "I still want the hug," she complained, jumping up on me so her legs were around my waist and her arms around me neck. I hugged her back and I was happy to be able to hug her again.
"I will see you soon I promise," she said to me, almost close to tears. "You better," I said smiling and letting her down. I messed up her hair and smiled, "bye kiddo." She scowled at me like I knew she would and hit my lightly, though I know she wouldn't hurt me. "I'm not a kid," she grumbled. "Whatever floats your boat," I replied laughing and she hit me again, a little harder. "Bye asshole," she said, storming over to Blaze. I chuckled, "cya soon." She turned around and gave me a serious look, "you better." Then she got onto Blaze's bike and he drove around the corner into the night.
