One Week One Team One Game

So, my week is still going. Well not anymore really. It's the next week. Yep it's Monday again. Well the guys on my hockey team are, well they are dorks. I met a few, they were very surprised to see a girl on 'there' team. Jonathan Toews was already captain of the team, from last year I'm assuming. He's a very tall handsome guy, not that I like him. I don't like anyone, yet. And of course Teuvo and Tyler were there. I already know them, so it's not awkward around them. Patrick Kane was the quiet, shy boy in the corner. He was a sweet boy, if you can get'm to talk,"Yeah he doesn't talk much this year, so far." Jonathan once said to me. And he's been right so far. I mean he is best friends with Patrick. But Patrick is a cute boy, not that I like him. Andrew Shaw was more of the smart, nerdy, tough guy, not my type. I mean he is in my math, and science class, and every time the teacher calls on him for an answer he gets it right. But he can fight. And I mean he can fight. He got in a fight with a kid outside of school, and won that fight. But he is funny, and nice to talk to as well. Then there's Jamie, Jamie Benn. He's popular as you can tell by the way I said his name. Him and Tyler are best friends, and everybody knows them. Jamie doesn't talk to me much, just says 'hi'. Populars not my type either. Last but not least there's Artemi Panarin and his companion Artem Anisimov? They confuse me. Here's why they do. So they're both moved from Russia to here, Chicago over the summer like me, but they moved because of Artemi's dads job. (Anisimov is a family friend to the Panarin's) But, Artemi barely knows any english, and that's why Anisimov is there to translate words for Artemi. I know confusing, why doesn't he just get home schooled? Anisimov says Artemi doesn't get home schooled because his parents want him making friends, learning English ways, and just being sociable. All the boys on my team are very nice, those are the boys I just talked to all week. And now that I think of it, I think Artemi was the boy I ran into in the hallway on the first day. If it was then, I'm sorry. If it wasn't, then wth that person still could have said 'hi' or 'sorry'. Anyway I have a game this Friday, can't wait to play!

"Hey, can you guys come to my first hockey game Friday?" I asked the girls at lunch. I really wanted them to come. I'm so excited to play," Sure, I can come," Leilani said "at what time?" "At 7:00" " Yeah, I'll be able to make it." "Great, any one else?" "I can go," Emalee said " Yay! How about you Kayla and Johanna?" Mckynsie already told me she couldn't go. I really wanted all my friends to be there," Yeah, I'll go," said Johanna "Me too, I've got nothing else to do." "Great! Yay! You can all come!" "Hey Cori, did you find out who Tyler likes?" I totally forgot about that. I mean I didn't want to bother him anyway, were barley friends."Sorry, I didn't find out, were not exactly friends yet. I don't want to bother him, I will ask him when we're better friends. Don't worry, that won't be long." "Oh, ok. I understand." Later that day in science I guess I finally had a conversation with Andrew." Hey, Cori right? Sorry if I got it wrong. But, we never really got to talk." "Oh, hie! Yeah it's Cori, and no we never really got to talk have we." "You excited for Friday? You seem like a really good player." "Yeah I am, you seem like a pretty good fighter." "Ha, I'll try not to get in a fight." He did actually beat up some kid. That wasn't a rumor, but he was a nice funny kid. If you talked to him. He only really talks to me, Teuvo, and Artemi follows him around. So he's pretty lonely. Well not exactly lonely when everybody knows'm." Hi?" Artemi said when he came to our table."He just got a schedule change today. So he'll be in this science class now."Anisimov said, then Artemi said something in Russian to Anisimov, "He says 'hi, how's your day been, mines been great so far' " this was the first time I've had a conversation with Artemi. I knew it would be hard talking to him. "My days been good," I said "Mine as well" Andrew said "Great?" Artemi said. It sucks having him not being able to speak English. I wish he could speak English. As class went on all I heard was a Russian voice in the background of what the teacher was saying. It was a little annoying, but it was the only way he, Artemi, would know what's going on. Anyway can't wait for Friday!

Today's Friday, later I get to play! When I walked to the bus stop Tyler was there. He doesn't normally wait there."Hey Tyler!" I said casually "Oh! Hey Cori, you ready for tonight?" "Nah! I'm totally not excited." " I'm assuming that, that was a yes." Then Emalee was walking towards us. She looked a little nervous cause Tyler was here."Hey Emalee," Tyler said, almost dreamily. Oh. My. God. Does Tyler like Emalee? "Hey Tyler, how are you?" She said trying not to blush." I'm doing good, are you coming to see Cori and I play tonight?" "Yes, I already told Cori I was going to the game." I could tell Emalee was blushing. They had such a cute moment. The bus drove us to school, and it was a normal, fast day. Then hours, and hours later. It was time to play. I had to change in the girls locker room of course, then before I went out Artemi came to me,"Good luck.." I could see he was trying to remember the right english words,"Oh! And hope you score." Then he looked at me with a proud smile. "You too," I said with a smile. That was nice of him to say. "Alright! Listen up!" Coach yelled,"Tonight's the first game, so if we lose, then don't be hard on yourself. It was our first game. Now I still want you guys to play hard, and like its a serious game. Now let's go play some hockey!" Then we went off to the ice. I could see all my friends, and my family sitting in the bleachers. My friends were cheering already. "Hey! This will be fun." Teuvo said with a negative attitude. "Why the negative attitude?" "Oh, it's just that, that team last year," he was pointing to were the opposite team was,"we couldn't beat them last year." "Oh, that doesn't mean we can't beat them this year." "True, true." Andrew said out of nowhere,"Were'd you come from?" Teuvo asked "The locker room?" Andrew said stupidly back,"Ohhhhh, right, I knew that." Teuvo said. Then it was 2min till the game started. The first line went out on the ice for the face-off, and it started. It was Jonathan, Patrick, and 3 other boys I didn't know. Patrick and Jonathan were really good at passing the puck back and fourth to each other. The other 3 boys were good, but not as good as Patrick and Jonathan. The period ended, and it was still 0:0. No score at all. We went into the locker room for a the period break. "A Teuvo, you were right about that team being hard." I said while we were all sitting on the benches."Yep, I told ya that they were hard to beat." Our goalie was a very good goalie." Yeah he's new." Jonathan said to me a few minutes before the 2nd period. And the 2nd period started, and it was that same line from the very beginning of the game. Then finally someone scored. Patrick had scored a goal! Everyone was so happy! I jumped up from the bench, and cheered! Finally, now we just need one more person to score to be a little ahead, just incase the other team scores. As the second period continued the other team scored twice instead, yay. Until Jonathan scored just before time ran out in the 2nd period. Now when the 3rd period comes someone has to brake the tie. No one said anything to each other in the locker room. The only reason the other team scored the second goal, was because Andrew got a penalty. What an idiot. Oh well! We can still do this though. The third period started the same, and it was going so fast that the next thing I know. Is that I just scored. YASSS! All my friends jumped up, and cheered so loudly, and my family cheered as well, but not so noisily like my friends were."Good...job!" Artemi said "Not bad for a girl" Tyler said "That was pretty good." Andrew added to what Tyler said "Nice job, friend." Teuvo said to me. Wait, friend? "Friend?" I said back stupidly,"Yeah friend, you are my friend right?" "Yeah, yeah of course!" My first hockey friend, nice. I mean I guess I am friends with Teuvo, Andrew, and Artemi, but I didn't think they would actually call me there friend. After the game was over my friends came up to me, and were very happy, and said they enjoyed the game. "Hey, uh Cori," Tyler asked me," Yeah?" I said back "Could and can you keep a secret?" Jamie was standing right there just waiting for his friend,"Could you hurry up, I want to get home." "Jesus Jamie, there is no hurry. Anyway I'll just straight up tell you...I like Emalee. Do you know who she likes?" "Um yeah, I'm talking to'm right now." He was just amazed, and in shock,"Good, great, don't tell her though, I'm waiting for the right time to tell her." "Ok" "Oh! And one more thing. Someone likes you." And then him and Jamie just took off. They left me. I wonder what that meant. Someone likes me? Who? Oh well! But Tyler likes Emalee. Just what I wanted to hear. And I actually wanted to hear that. To bad I can't tell her. Anyway tonight was a great night. Can't wait to play more hockey!
