CHAPTER 46
Lara's POV
After classes ended, I walked toward my locker and shoved my textbooks in it. I opted to call Lia again since she hadn't returned any of my calls yet when Jayden neared my locker.
"Do you need a ride home?" he asked.
I'd been getting a lot of that lately. Ever since the little incident, the one I was being followed, he'd ask if I need a ride home after school if he sees me alone.
Whatever the reason was, I didn't mind it at all. Whenever my friends couldn't give me rides home because of their projects, which were always due a few days later, I would catch a ride with him.
So basically I could say I haven't been using much of my feet for the past month or so.
I thought that Lia and the others might have another project due most likely tomorrow, so I opted to take up the offer. When I was about to tell him that, Lia's voice echoed through the empty hallway.
She walked toward me. "Hey sorry I was in class so I wasn't able to pick up your calls, you know how Mr Langford hates me so of course I wouldn't want to get on his bad side this time seeing that this semester is graded-," she stopped ranting when he finally noticed Jayden by my side.
Her annoyed expression instantly turned into a friendly one in a zap. "Oh and who is this?" she said, nudging my elbow clearly teasing me. She knew perfectly who he was.
It was not that I didn't want my best friend knowing him. In fact, I'd always wanting to tell her about him. But I knew how she would be, she would just never stop asking me about him.
Seeing that they were standing right in front of one another now, there wasn't much I could do except to introduce them to each other.
"Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Jayden," he said, extending his hands to Lia.
I blinked. He really caught me by surprise, what's more, with his gesture. Even I did not get such introduction back when we first met. All I'd ever gotten was his name and, a lot of one word answers.
Lia slipped her hand into his, giving it a shake. "Hello Jayden, I'm Lia. I heard lots about you," she replied, smiling sheepishly.
Before things could go any farther I said, "I'll catch a ride with her, I'll see you soon," to Jayden.
"Oh no no, you can go-"
"You're giving me a ride home Lia," I said sternly, cutting her off.
I didn't know what made me do that. Maybe I was just afraid that she'd ask too much questions after because she would assume I would hang out with him if I went with Jayden.
Lia sighed. "Alright, I'll take you home. Bye Jayden, nice knowing you and-" She didn't get to finish whatever she was saying because I was already pushing her toward the parking lot.
"Bye Jayden, thanks anyway," I waved him goodbye.

It was a Saturday evening and we were in Bryce's house, helping him out with the party he was throwing. His parents were out of town and to him, it was the best opportunity to throw one. He convinced us that it was the best way welcome spring.
"He just doesn't want to jeopardize his social life, that's why," I remembered Lia mutter when he told us the idea.
I was making fruit punch in the kitchen when I heard Scott yelled from outside, "Bryce, have you collected the cake yet?"
