CHAPTER 50
Charlotte's POV
Damn it, I really need to get inside. I wonder if the Daniel and Cabrera already did.
The two men who were speaking outside finally went back in. Now I knew there were two of them, so I had to be careful. Using my peripherals, I checked for any movements before proceeding to enter. The door gave a slight squeak but not too loud, so that was good. I had my handgun on guard by my side and I crouched my way through the kitchen. It was quite a lovely home to live in with just a glance. It kind of looked like the cottage from the story The Goldilocks and the Three Bears but of course a slightly bigger version.
From where I was I saw Cabrera right in front of me but at the opposite end. He signalled me that Daniel had already went ahead into the basement. I swiftly moved across the room and slid by Cabrera. "I managed to knock out two men, what about you?" he said.
"I managed to hear two man talking, did you knock them out?" I asked.
"Probably," he replied.
"Well, this is not as how I expected it to be," I said, speaking about how easy it was to infiltrate the place.
"Like what Daniel said, they are probably planning for the heist somewhere else and not here," he explained.
"There is a man down here! We're being invaded-" a voice cried out from the basement but was cut off all of a sudden by a couple of gunshots.
"We got to move," I said.
"Obviously," Cabrera muttered rolling his eyes. I stopped my tracks and said, "Look, I don't know what your issue is here, but we are trying to save Lara so keep your stupid remarks until we are done with this."
And thankfully, he did not say another word after that.
"Mark! Where are you?" a familiar voice echoed from down the stairs. I grabbed my favourite rainbow army knife by my ankle ready to attack. I was crouched down by the entrance of the basement with Cabrera right behind me.
As soon as I saw Justin's figure popped out from the door I used my knee and bumped the back of his knee causing him to fall. With this, he reached just about my height, and that was when I was able to grab his neck with my elbow and have my knife by his jugular.
"Move and you're dead," I said.
"What the hell?" he exclaimed.
"I should have known you were the one who was giving Daniel those bruises," I told Justin then I instructed Cabrera, "You go check on the situation down there. I'll handle this," I told Cabrera and he nodded.
"What do you mean you'll handle this?" Justin said in angst.
"Like this," I said and hit his pressure point with the back of my knife and with that, he fell unconscious.
"Easy peasy," I said to myself and headed down the stairs.
"Just hold it there and put some pressure on it. You'll be fine," I heard Cabrera said and someone groaned a reply. Was that Daniel? Did something happen to him? I shuffled my feet down the steps and saw Daniel sitting against the wall with a blood stained cloth pressed against his abdomen. I could only assume that he was shot.
"What happened?" I said and rushed over.
"I got shot," Daniel groaned out.
"Go help Lara," Cabrera ordered as soon as I got close enough.
"What? No! You go do that. I'll handle this, I've got my training on this before," I said.
"Just do it, Charlotte!" Cabrera ordered once more. I made eye contact with Daniel and gave him nod. When he replied me with his, I knew he was going to be alright so then I quickly went over to Lara.
