So based on what the letter Cody wrote said, Cody is in some sort of trouble. He is being tested for some reason, and doctors like him more due to his eye colour.
So there is something special about his eye colour? I thought of all the eye colours I could think of.
Mr. Farsdale's eyes. Those were the strangest coloured eyes I have ever seen, violet. So perhaps, Cody has purple eyes?
There was also this 'Father' person Cody mentioned. I thought about how he used the word. Does he mean Aubrey's dad, Mr. Alstein? Or perhaps his own dad? Why does his own father hate him so much?
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"I'll get it..." I said, putting the letter carefully back down on Aubrey's desk. Then I walked up to the door, and went on my tiptoes to look through the peephole.
A young man and woman stood in front of the door. They had matching silver hair, and were similarly dressed. They also both had their hair covering one eye, mirroring each other. Both had icy blue eyes that stared right back at the peephole.
I've seen them before. They were the people in the alleyway.
I jumped back, then instinctively looked at Aubrey.
"I don't know these people," I said, cautiously.
"Do you know them?"
Aubrey sighed, closed his laptop, and walked to the door himself, pushing me out of the way. He did not look through the peephole, he just simply opened the door a little bit. I leaned against the wall, so they don't see me.
"Oh, it's little Alstein." A female voice said, with a tinge of distaste.
"Now what did they call you again, I know they had a name for you, hmm... what was it..."
"Merry." A lower, male voice said.
"Merry..." The female said again, with a sly, distasteful tone.
"Now...Merry, We heard there was a college student here, Akina, Sayoki Akina. Is he your roommate, Alstein? Or did we get our facts wrong, you know we never do."
The female had emphasised the word 'never,' to make it extra clear. My heart was pounding since she said my name.
They scare me, what do they want with me?
Aubrey had been silent the whole time. The others kept silent for a second too. Then, finally, Aubrey said,
"Alex...Xela... Get out of my dorm.... and get OFF THIS CAMPUS!!!"
I saw Aubrey's clenched fist spring through the doorway, and heard the fist hit someone. The male voice, Alex? groaned in pain. Aubrey stalked through the door, and there was more groaning from Alex. I think Aubrey stepped on him.
Then I heard the click of a gun.
"He's your roommate, isn't he, Merry? I know Akina is in there," Xela chuckled darkly.
"I know, you haven't been this defensive since Cody..."
"Shut up." Aubrey hissed.
There was running, some banging along the way. I think the two are gone now. I carefully unflattened myself from the wall, and cautiously looked through the doorway.
Xela and Aubrey were gone. Alex was still groaning on the floor. Various people were coming out of their dorms now to see what was the ruckus.
"I think they left now." "No, I didn't do this, honest!" "I don't really know what happened, really."
I answered other people's questions best I could, before they all went back into their dorms. Someone had pulled Alex away, so now I could close the door.
I hope Aubrey is okay, he just went running after her as soon as she mentioned Cody.
How do they know who Cody is, and I don't? I think they and Aubrey have something in common.
I was still a little spooked by what happened, so I went down the elevator to Paul's room. I decided I'll be safer there, and maybe I could stay the night. I'd feel so much better with Paul than being alone.
"What happened up there?" Paul asked, worried. "I heard some sounds from above, are you okay?"
"A little freaked out, but otherwise okay."
Then I told him about what happened, with the strange people, and Aubrey, and everything else, while Paul, and even Toby listened.
"Geez... that's a lot, well, at least you're okay."
"They wanted me, Paul. They were looking for me for some reason. What would they want?"
"It doesn't matter," Paul replied, "As long as you're with me, they wouldn't lay a dirty finger on you."
He then embraced me, while Toby awkwardly turned away, not saying anything as usual. I snuggled close to Paul, feeling his warmth.
Somewhere outside, a gunshot went off.
"Now what?" Paul said, slightly annoyed from the interruption, and yet worried as well. I walked over to the balcony, and opened it to look outside.
I saw Xela run off, with Alex a little ways behind her, but no Aubrey chasing after Alex and Xela. In fact, Aubrey was nowhere to be seen.
"Oh, no..."
"Sayoki?"
"I think they shot Aubrey, I have to go out!" I said, hurrying to the door.
"With the gunshots, I don't think we'd be allowed out." Paul said, with doubt. His phone buzzed, and he checked it.
"Yup, Sayoki, I'm sorry, but we're on lockdown. We can't go out for him."
"But what if-"
"They'll probably call an ambulance." Paul said, hopefully. "You should probably get to your dorm, okay?"
"Okay." I said, slowly walking to the door. I then went up the elevator, and a little down the hall back to the dorm.
I hope Aubrey is okay. I sat down on the bed and sighed. Say Aubrey was shot, and the paramedics don't come in time. Then no one would be there for me the next time they came back.
Alex and Xela gave me many new questions. Who are they? Why do they want me? Actually, why do they call Aubrey 'Merry?'
He never told me of that nickname. Why does he have it?
Behind the door there was some footsteps, then a loud thump. Then something dragging along the floor.
"What the?"
I was scared, but I carefully walked up to the door. I turned the doorknob, and opened the door.
Aubrey made it back to the dorm a little late. I looked down the hall at the path of red fluid he made getting here.
I shrieked.
