"Dammit...".
I kick the little tree branch from the new growth tree. Sighing, I put my hands in my pocket and look at the sky. It was so warm....
I smiled a little. It wasn't a greedy smile like I've always had but a genuinely one that showed I was at peace for now. I stop here and put my back against the tree and slide down slowly.
Then suddenly, I realized why I was even out here anyway. My smile disappears quickly and I become distant to even my own thoughts.
I can't believe I did that...? I was gonna kill him. I swear I was gonna kill him. My best friend? For Elaine? I would do anything for her, but killing him to bring her back? That's...
I kicked the tree annoyed. It broke off its root and started leaning forward I kicked it away and it flys back.
I walk away from this section.
As I was walking off, I'm suddenly consumed by the flesh of something dead. I winch at the scent. I started to back off but the stench grew heavy. Their was another dead something, but the smell was slightly different it smelled of roses...?
I could have walked off easily and back to the tavern but the fact that I didn't stunned me. Curiosity had me under a spell and I couldn't break it even if I wanted to. So, I followed it.
The un-curious me would have easily walked away and not given it a second thought, but I was intrigued by this. Every inch I grew closer I could identify more and more smells. Each different from the other but all dead. It's not an animal. Animals share the same dead smell this? It's different. It's a human.
I would have hope for the best, but that's not me. I hoped for the worst and prepared myself for what I would see in minutes—no seconds.
The rot consumed the air and suffocated my nose I cup my hand over my nose to block out some of the smell but it doesn't help much.
I continue the path forward, but as soon I'm here the dark red covered the ground. Nothing but a deep bloody red was in sight.
The grass was stained an unbelievable color hardly even showing that it was once green. The sky turned gray and sinister . It was as if a rainstorm could set any moment. The view here was mildly disturbing. Nothing but bodies on bodies surrounded by bodies.
I step near and over the bodies as best I could. I felt unsettlement here. I stop when I realized I was in the middle of the bodies and I listen and suddenly the quick beating of a heartbeat filed my ears.
"What...? Someone's alive?".
It was fading quickly.
Why I even interested in the person made me curious. I walked slowly around listening closely trying to find the person underneath the bodies. There must have been a war here. With this many dead bodies there had to be something going on, but why didn't we notice this? Meliodas probably could have stoped it.
Well...he probably wouldn't stopped it seeing how he is now....
I suddenly hear a moan of agony coming from a pile of bodies. I rush over listening as the sharp painful groans grew louder and louder. Painful and more painful.
"Hey?", I called out.
I have no idea why I cared, but I did and I wanted to do something quick. There wasn't an answer. I walked closer following the soft sound of a heart. I slowed my breathing and listened.
"I-I can't breath", the female voice gasped out.
I dashed off immediately.
She was here! I get to the group and hear her heart pounding against her rib cage. Body after body, I thew them asides as I was trying to get to the stranger. The heartbeat grew louder but faded slowly with every passing moments.
I had to hurry or she was gonna die and I didn't need another death on me....
