Rydel was your best friend. You guys were inseparable at the best of times and you did everything together. Recently, however, you had noticed Rydel acting kinda weird. It was difficult seeing your best friend like that but every time you bought it up, she seemed to act even weirder before making an excuse to leave.
You were getting ready to go to Rydel's house. Every Saturday, you'd go over to her place, sunbathe by her pool and swim a little whilst her brothers annoyed you. You were pretty close to her four brothers too for the most part.
"Bye mom!" You shouted, leaving your house after spending twenty minutes getting ready to go. You'd put on your favourite blue bikini, matching blue sundress, flip flops, sunglasses and sunhat and were now bouncing down the road with a towel wrapped around your shoulders.
You skipped up to her front door in a good mood as always and knocked on it.
"It's open!" came the familiar giggly voice from inside. You pushed open the door and were immediately greeted by a warm hug from your best friend.
You hugged back, smiling. "Hey!"
"Hey." She smiled. "Come on, let me get you a drink."
She walked down the hallway into the kitchen and you followed, smiling at the fact that after a long week you got to hang out with your best friend.
"What did you get on your math quiz?" Rydel asked you, resting her arms on the counter. You pulled yourself up onto the counter next to her.
"I thought I came over to forget about school." You asked cheekily, looking at her.
"Just tellll meeeeeee." She begged dramatically, grabbing your arms and shaking you whilst pleading.
"Okay okay I got a 92." You said in defeat.
Rydel looked at you, stopping shaking you. "Oh my gosh you nerd!"
"Why what did you get?" You asked, curiously.
"97." She said, casually.
"97?! Dude! That means you can come to Florida with me over summer!" You excitedly squealed.
Rydel's facial expression dropped and she suddenly seemed shy. "I don't think so."
"What? Come on, we've been planning this for months and your parents said you could go if you got over 95 on this quiz!" You protested, looking at your shy friend.
Rydel bit her lip, looking down. "We have tour." She whispered.
You jumped down off the counter. "No you don't! It's the week before you tour! Come on, im not gonna see you in forever! Please come with me!" You shouted, half in excitement, half in frustration.
"I can't. Sorry." She simply replied, shrugging her shoulders.
You sighed, climbing back on the counter.
"What's wrong Rydel? Why have you gone all shy?" You asked, folding your arms and raising an eyebrow.
"What would you like to drink?" She asked you, walking to the fridge, clearly trying to change the subject.
You wanted to talk about this and just couldn't understand why she wouldn't go on vacation with you like you both had begged you're parents to let you because you seriously wanted it, but the last thing you wanted to do was fight.
