Chapter 4

A month later, Alex and Mike were back in NYC working at their dads’ office.  Alex was at her desk looking over a file that her dad had given her an hour ago and said that something was wrong with it, but she couldn’t find anything.  Her dad said that the client didn’t like what he saw, and her dad said to fix it, but she couldn’t find anything.  She asked her dad where, but he couldn’t find it either.

She dropped her pen onto her desk, sighs leaning back in her leather chair, and turned around to look at the lovely view of the city that she got in her office.  She stood up, and went to the window.  She had a busy month after she was at Kevin’s wedding.  Sadly she hadn’t had time to call, write, or email Denise, but that her and Mike landed safely.

She smiled remembering just over a year ago after she graduated from college, with high honors, her dad hired her to be a part of the company with Michael and his dad Mr. Parker.  She was in her own personal office over looking the city.  She was the only female in the company, mom didn’t want to do it, but stay at home, and make them lunches and would send it with her dad, or she would deliver it personally.

She was about to turn around to go back to the file papers again when there was a knock on her office door.

“Come in,” she said sitting back down.

“Ms. Wilson,” their secretary Annie said looking inside the office.  “I’m sorry, but the guards downstairs said that someone is here to see you.”

Annie was this cute college student who was working on her college degree going into business.  Alex got called from one of her professors about Annie since she was looking for a job, and after the interview, Alex’s dad loved her right away.  Alex loved Annie because she wasn’t the only girl in the office now.  Annie and Alex got along really well that they found out that they have the same taste in music.  Even the Jonas Brothers which Alex never even dared to tell Annie that they are her brothers. Not yet anyway.

Alex looks in her planner, “I don’t have anyone on the schedule to meet with, but the meetings with dad and Mr. Parker.”

“I know.  So, what would you like them to do?”

“Well, tell whoever is down there that I’m busy right now, and will have to setup an appointment with me.”

“Okay,” Annie said and went back out shutting the door.

Alex looked at the clock seeing that she was to be at a lunch meeting with her dad, Mike, and his dad in ten minutes.

Alex pushed a few numbers on her phone, and she waited.

“This is Mr. Parker,” Mike said on the phone.

“Hi,” she smiled.  “Listen.  I can’t do this file.  I have gone over it for an hour and I can’t find anything; dad can’t remember where the client said either.”  She then talked faster, “The client didn’t like what he saw, he’ll be back tonight, and if we don’t fix this contract…”
