Ch. 3: to accept/not to accept?

Chapter 3

            Denise and Paul were dancing away as Frankie ran up to them.

            “Mom, dad… Alex is leaving.”

            Denise and Paul looked at each other; then look over at Kevin and Danielle dancing near by, and then Joe and Nick were in an argument in a corner away from the guests.

            “We know honey, but it’s your brothers’ decision,” Denise told him.

            “No.  I want her to stay.  I want to get to know her, and she is my sister.  I want to have two sisters.  I’m fine with it,” Frankie demanded.

            Paul told him, “Well, the other three have to make a decision too,”

            “Well, Alex said that while her and Nick were dancing earlier, he said that he is totally cool with it.”

            Mom and dad looked at each other and smiled, “Well, two more to go,” dad said.

            As they look Joe was in a big argument was Nick, and Danielle was talking to Kevin, but he was totally not listening to her at all.

            “Who do you want to take?” Denise asked.

“Let’s go tell them that she’s leaving, you know give them that last shot,” Paul told her.

            Paul and Frankie walked toward Danielle and Kevin while Denise went toward Joe and Nick in the corner talking.

            Joe and Nick were in a big argument about Alex.

            “Why do you hate Alex so much?” Nick asked.  “What did she ever do to you?  You don’t know her?”

            “Dude!” Joe almost yelled, “She’s never been in our family and now she shows up in the middle of nowhere?  What about our fame, do you think she’s going to go after our money?”

            “No!  She’s not that greedy,” Nick snapped at his brother.  “She’s family Joe.  What else do you want?”  Nick threw both hands up in the air, “You know what?  I don’t get you.  I give up.”  He looks right into his brother’s brown eyes, “I’m accepting her.”

            “What?  You can’t accept her.”

            “Watch me,” Nick glared.

            Soon, the boys see Denise coming over quickly.  “What are you two arguing about over here?  This is your brother’s wedding.  It looks like you are fighting over here.  What is going on?”

            “Sorry mom,” they said together.

            “Well?” she waited.

            Nick told her, “Joe’s not accepting Alex.  He thinks that she’s here to get our fame and fortune, and she doesn’t care about us.”

            “Well, do you know what?” Denise then started her speech that she had been thinking about since Joe and Kevin were upset after the first meeting of Alex.  “She is my daughter, and I haven’t seen her since she was one years old.  I have the right to see my daughter, and you should accept her.  We did come to the terms that my sons would be making the final choice if I can see my own daughter, and include her as a part of this family.  Just for your information, Frankie has already accepted her; he wants two sisters. So right now… Joe, you and Kevin are the last two, and from the way it sounds, you two are stuck.  If you want to include Danielle, I’m pretty sure she’s already accepted Alex too.”
