Chapter 11

Alex was nervous about what Denise was going to ask her or talk to her about.  She noticed that they went into the office, and Paul was there waiting.

“Have a seat Alexis,” Paul told her.

“I’m not in trouble am I?” she asked starting to get worried.

“No honey.  Just that…” Denise started.

“How do you feel about purity rings?” Paul asked.

Alex thought about it.  They talked to her about it in the exchanging letters here and there over the years of writing to each other.  Alex of course was saving herself for marriage, but didn’t feel like she had to wear a ring just to show that she’s pure. “I’m fine with it.  I don’t feel comfortable wearing a ring to show the world that I’m a virgin.”

“Well, since you are a part of this family, we would like you to wear one,” Paul told her.

“You could wear it on your right hand if you wanted.  Just the family would know what it means,” Denise added.

“And then when the boys tell their fans about me, they’re going to wonder where my ring is too?” she asked. “I’m sorry, but I don’t have to prove to the world that I’m a virgin and wear a ring to prove it.” She stood up, “I’m sorry, I understand your beliefs, and I don’t judge a book by its cover, however, you can’t make me or anyone else to join your church or belief.”

Alex got up and left the office to go to her room.

She didn’t see Joe, Nick, or Frankie over hearing them in the office.

Alex hid in her room with the door locked, and when it was getting closer to getting ready for her blind date, she went and took a shower, got ready leaving her hair down, letting it air dry as the curls form around her face.  She got the dress on after she zipped it on her own, put her flat shoes on when there was a knock on the door.

            “Alex?” she heard someone ask.

            “I’m getting ready,” she said.

“Did you need help with your dress?” Dani asked.

“No I got it this time thank you.”  She was looking for a light jacket to go over her top since it was to be cool tonight.

She was about done when later she heard another knock.

“Alex?” Kevin’s voice asked through the door.

            “Yes?” she asked.

            “Could I come in?”

            “I’m almost done.”

            “Please?”

She sighed as she went to unlock her door, and went back into the bathroom to double check her hair again.

Kevin walked into the room dressed in his suit for the date, and heard the blow dryer going off.  He shut the door behind him, sat down on her bed as he waited, and then hears her coming into the bedroom after the blow dryer was turned off.
