When I finally manage to get a taxi to the main part of the city, I realise that I may not have thought it through enough. All the planning I have made all leads to this moment. But up until now I haven't thought of what I'll do if the hotel's have no vaccances.
"Here we go. Welcome to Los Angeles." The taxi man looks at me through the mirror and gives me a little smile. I hand over the fare money and I head off into the busy streets.
There are people pushing past eachother to get places, there is loud music playing and there isn't a peaceful moment to be had. I have no idea what to do now, I need to look around for hotels.
I start to head past this house which has loud music playing, when I hear someone scream. It sounds like a women's voice. I turn my head and notice, by the side of the house a woman is standing there with a boy not much older than me and she looks scared.
I promise myself I won't get involved. I only came here to find my Mum, but when I look at the woman I can't hell but head over to where they stand.
"Hey!" I shout. The boy looks at me, and grabs the woman's arm.
She has bright pink hair which grows just past her shoulders, and she wears all pink. The boy however, wears a baggy shirt and looks kind of rough.
"GO AWAY!" The boy screams at me. It's not until then I realise he has a knife with his other hand, and his other hand grasping the woman's arm tightly.
"Let her go!" I say to him. Even though my voice starts to tremble. I can't just leave it though, It's in my nature to help people.
"Who are you to tell me what to do, huh?" The boy grasps the lady's arm even tighter and she looks at me pleadingly.
I take a step towards them but not too close.
"Leave her be. What has she done to you?" The boy looks at me and laughs. His greasy brown hair falls from behind his ear.
But as soon as I say that, the boy lets go of the woman and head towards me, holding the knife in his other hand. I knew at that moment I shouldn't have got involved.
"Leave her alone, Mike!" The woman screams, but before I know it I am lying on the ground and I feel my head spinning.
'What has happened?' I think, but before I can think anymore. I blank out."Hey. Are you alright? Hello..." I wake up to a fuzzy image of a tall figure standing infront of me. It's the woman who I tried to help. She looks worried as she looks down at me.
I blink to try and regain focus and after a few moments I can see normal again. I look around. It looks like I'm still on the pavement, not in hospital after all, I have always hates hospitals.
"Your awake! I was starting to panic you wouldn't wake up." The lady holds out her hand for me to hold to get up. But as soon as I stand up i see that my arm is bleeding badly, and my hand has blood on it too.
"What happened?" I ask the woman who is now standing infront of me.
She looks puzzled but then replies.
"You don't remember? That guy, Mike... his knife went into your arm and I wasn't sure you'd wake up. I was about to call an ambulance." She looks at me again and gives me a reassuring look.
"Come on, let's get out of here. I'll stop the bleeding for you." She grabs my non-bloody hand and pulls me along to follow her.
I wonder how long I was on the floor for, as there isn't as many people walking around as before. I follow the woman down the street, and she pulls into this front drive with a medium sized flat behind it.
"This is my place. I'll get you some water for the shock." She opens the door and heads toward the kitchen.
"Make yourself comfy." She calls to me. I look around. The walls are covered in pink patterns, and the furniture is pink, the cupboards are pink. Basically everything was pink, something I had never seen before. It looked so lovely, all in pink.
"You like it? Can you tell I like pink? Here's your water." She comes back from the kitchen, holding a glass of water with ice cubes in. She smiles at me as she admires the room herself.
"Thank you. I love it. I have never seen so much pink in my life." I laugh when i say it, before taking a sip of the ice cold water.
"I'm Camille. But everyone calls me Cam." Cam says to me.
I sit down by her on her pink sofa. I feel the icy water cool my hands. The blood is dried now on my hand and my arm looks worse in the pure light.
"I'll get a bandage for that. It will help stop the bleeding." Cam went to her pink cupboard and pulled out a bandage and sat back down.
She started to wrap it around my hand. It hurt a lot, but I don't say anything as I don't to moan.
Once she has wrapped the bandage around my hand she pulls out her phone. Which reminds me, I need to set up the phone I brought at the airport. I search through my bag, which is now all dirty due to being on the floor when I fell.
"New phone? Do you want me to help set it up for you? I can put my number in it too, if you like? What's your name, by the way?" Cam takes the box from my hands once I nodd at her and she starts to set my phone up.
"Faye. And thanks." I say to her.Once she has set it up, which takes just a few minutes, she passes it over to me and smiles once again.
"So tell me, what's an english girl like you doing in LA? Are you alone?" Cam asks me. I realise I can't lie to everyone I meet, especially if I want to find my Mum.
"I'm eighteen today. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to come here. mjI'm looking for my Mum who gave me up when I was three. I left the children's home yesturday." I say with a kind of relief in my voice. It felt better to tell someone the reason I was here and not lie again.
Cam looks shocked and she looks at me and gives another smile.
