CHAPTER -20

Manik and Shanti were tired of the journey so they freshened up and took a small nap.

Manik woke up after two hours and came out of his room and saw that Shanti was having coffee with Lata.

Lata saw Manik and said- Lo Ji Manik sir bhi uthgaye.

Manik - Lata Ji ap mujhe Manik sir nahi Manik keh kar bulasakti hai.

Lata- Very good Ji thank you hai Ji.
Waise aap coffee piyenge Ji. Mere hath ki coffee pure Amritsar me world famous hai. Ek bar try karke dekhiye.

Manik - No .it's Ok.

Manik looked around for Nandini and on not finding her asked Shanti -Bua Nandini nazar nahi aarahi.

Shanti - Beta wo abhi sorahi hai.

Manik - Lataji apki world famous coffee nahi pilayengi.

Lata got confused as Manik had refused at first but then she went to prepare coffee when Manik said- Lata Ji actually 2 cup coffee bana dijiye .

Lata- Ji abhi layi.

She made coffee and handed it to Manik.

Manik took the two mugs to Nandini's room and knocked the door.

Nandini - Kaun hai?

Manik - Nandini it's me. Manik.

Nandini - Manik aaiyena andar.

Manik went inside and saw Nandini trying to apply balm on her foot.

Manik sighed and kept the coffee mugs on the side table.

Manik - Nandini ye kya kar rahi ho tum. Balm aise lagaya jaata hai kya.

Nandini - Jante hai. But wo jalega.....

She said this like a kid.

Manik - Lao mai lagaya hu.

Nandini - No . Manik aap kaise lagaoge.

Manik - Kyu mai nahi lagasakta kya balm.

Saying this he took the balm from her hands .

Nandini hid her legs and said - Nahi Manik bahut jalega.

Manik - Stop behaving like a kid. Mai lagaunga to nahi jalega. Show me your foot.

Nandini extended her foot and Manik applied balm on her swollen foot.

He started to massage her foot lightly and Nandini closed her eyes tightly due to the burning sensation of the balm.

Manik- Waise Nandini ek baat puchu tumse.

Nandini opened her eyes and said- Haan puchiye.

Manik - Tum bachpan se hi darpok ho ya abhi abhi naya shauk paala hai.

Nandini - Matlab

Manik - Matlab ye ke jab flight take off horahi thi to kitna dar gayi thi tum.

Nandini - Nahi hum bilkul bhi nahi dare the. wo toh galti se humne aapka haath pakad liya tha.

Manik - Acha .... Aur ye bhi tumne galti se kiya hoga . Hai na.

Manik showed her the nail marks on his hand .

Nandini was shocked to see that she had sighed her nails in Manik's hand.

Nandini - Wo I am sorry. Hume bilkul bhi dhyan nahi raha. Laiye hum dawa laga dete hai.

Manik - Dawa lagaogi wo bhi tum. Khud to apne foot ko balm lagane ke bajao bas smell sungha rahi thi.

Nandini - Manikkkkk...... ap firse hamara mazak udha rahe ho.

Manik - Ok Ok sorry. Acha yeh lo hogaya tumhara foot massage.

Nandini immediately realized that Manik said all this to divert her attention from the pain she had in the foot.

Nandini - Thanks Manik.

Manik - Ab yeh thanks session end karo and have this coffee and take some rest . I want you out of the bed till evening. Aur Haan pain ka Bahama nahi chalega. Tab tak mai sweets aur clothes distribute karwadeta hu.

Nandini - Ok. But evening ko kya hai.

Manik - It's a surprise. Ab zyada mat socho aur rest karo.

Nandini - But mai abhi abhi to sokar uthi hu. Aur kitna rest karu. Humse aur rest nahi hoga. Hum Buaji ke paas jate hai. Yahan baithe rahenge to bore hojayenge.

Manik - Nandini stop being stubborn. Your foot needs rest.

Nandini made a sad face.

Manik on seeing her said- Acha theek hai tum Bua ke paas baitho but no need of doing any work. It's an order.

Nandini - Theek hai.

Nandini was about to get up when Manik said- Can I help?

Nandini - Nai hum manage karlenge .

Manik - Ok.

Nandini took slow steps and went out of the room to Shanti.

Manik followed her incase she needs help.

When Nandini reached the garden area where Shanti was present, Manik left from there to finish the distribution work.

All the kids of the orphanage gathered around Manik and he distrbuted sweets and clothes to them which they happily accepted.

It took almost 30 min and all the clothes were distributed.

Then Manik called someone and said- Haan Saari arrangements hogayi na.

Person- Haan sir. Sab ready hai.
Aap jab bolo tab hum aake sab set kardenge.

Manik - Ok theek 7 baje aajana and set everything. I will make sure that no one comes out till you are done with the work.

Person - Theek hai sir. Hum time se pahuch jayenge.

Manik - Ok.

Saying this he kept the phone.

Manik had a smile on his face.

He thought to himself - Ye sab dekhkar Bachche bahut khush hojayenge. Not bad Manik. You are a genius.

He tapped his shoulders .

This all was heard by some person.

That person dialled a number and said-

Paji wo Malhotra family se sach me koi aaya hai. Ab kya karenge hum.

Person on the other side- Oye koi gal nahi. Dekhte hai kya ukhad lega wo humara. Tu nazar rakh uspe.

1st person - Theek hai .

Saying this he disconnected the call.
