Or so they thought....

I day passed. Maybe two. They could no longer remember. It's not that it mattered, anyway. But when that day came, no one was prepared for what came next.
One night, much like the one before it all started, it was Kobë's turn to go home first.
Staring out into the beautiful night sky, Jason thought of days long past, people long gone, and his parents, which he too, would never meet. right then, he felt a disturbance in the world around him, and his instincts immediately brought him to leap from the building. In that moment, Kobë had thrown something from his window. His bet sheet, put together like a rope. It barely supported him, but he made it into his bedroom somehow. Wait, what?
He hadn't made any indication that he was to leap from the towering building.
"Hold on, how did you know to be prepared for that?"
"I don't know, man, I just, felt it coming, and when I needed it, the sheet was there."
Regardless, Jason made his way to the window and peeked out, just in time to see the dark figure that had pushed Kobë off a couple of nights before scoffing and disappearing into smoke.
