Katie didn't know what to say. She stared at him, thinking about what to say.

Konner: So, will you be my girlfriend?

Katie: I don't know. I mean, your Ethan's best friend.

Konner: I know. I just feel like this pregnancy would be better for both of us if we were together.

Katie: I understand that, but what about Ethan?

Konner: I'll deal with Ethan. Don't worry about him.

Katie: Yes.

Konner: Yes?

Katie: My answer is yes. I'd love to be your girlfriend.

Konner: Really?

Katie: No.

Konner: Oh.

Katie: I'm kidding! I'm kidding! My answer is yes.

Konner: Katie, you scared me.

Katie: Oops. Sorry.

They laughed and continued talking. They talked about everything. Katie was having a great time. Until she got a text from her mom.  It read, "Don't forget about your appointment with Dr. Brown at 3:15. Meet me there. Love you." Katie read the message and looked at Konner.

Katie: I have to go.

Konner: What's wrong?

Katie: Nothing, I have a doctor's appointment in 20 minutes and I don't want to be late.

Konner: Do you want me to bring you?

Katie: You don't have to. You don't have to go to the appointment, my mom will be there.

Konner: I know, but I want to. I told you, I want to be there for everything.

Katie: Okay. I guess you can bring me, but when it's over, you'll need to bring me back here to get my car.

Konner: Okay.

They drove to the doctors office. The nurse walked Katie and Konner to the room. Katie's mother was already in the room. At first, Cindy didn't want Konner to be in the room, but Katie convinced her to let him stay. Dr.Brown did a checkup and told Katie that everything was perfect with her and the baby. She also said that at the next appointment she could find out the gender. Konner and Katie had discussed this at lunch. They wanted to know the gender but they wanted to have a small gender reveal party. After the appointment, Konner drove Katie to get her car. When they got to the parking lot, Konner parked his truck next to Katie's car. He ran around his truck to open Katie's door and help her out. As Katie was about to open her door, Konner grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to him. He leaned in to kiss her, but Katie turned her head. She looked at him.

Katie: I'm sorry. I'm just....not ready.

Konner: It's okay. I understand.

Konner opened her door and shut it once Katie had gotten in. She put on her seat belt and waved good-bye and drove off. Konner sighed and went home.
