The Party

Chapter 5 | The Test

It had been almost a month since the party and everyone had pretty much forgot about it. Alexis was happy with Jacob and Katie was happy with Ethan. Katie and her squad (Jordan, Chloe, and Alexis) were watching a movie in the living room. The movie had just ended and they didn't feel like watching another, so they decided to just talk. They talked about boys, school, and what they were going to eat for dinner. Jordan was telling a story when Katie had a realization. She couldn't help but interrupt Jordan to tell them what was wrong.

Jordan: So my foot's totally stuck in there right, I'm freaking out, the dog's having a seizure and I still got half a pie left.

Katie: Wait.

Jordan Chloe & Alexis: Yes??

Katie: I think I'm....

Alexis: You think you're....hungry?

Katie: Pregnant.

Everyone stared at her in shock.

Jordan: What makes you think that?

Katie: Well....it hasn't started yet and it was supposed to start last week.

Alexis: Well, that seems like a valid reason.

Katie: Yeahhhh.

Chloe: Well you want to make sure?

Katie: Yes.

Jordan: Okay. I'll run to the store.

Alexis: I'll go with you.

Katie: Thank you.

Alexis and Jordan walked out the door and Chloe turned to look at Katie.

Chloe: You okay?

Katie: I don't know. What am I going do if it turns out positive? How am I going to tell my parents?

Chloe: Don't worry. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Katie: Okay.

About 15 minutes later, Alexis and Jordan walked through the door with a plastic bag. Alexis handed the bag to Katie. Katie went upstairs to the bathroom. 5 minutes later, she came down the stairs, holding the test in her hand. Katie looked at them. She whispered, "It's positive," then broke down in tears. Everyone ran over to her to comfort her.

Katie: How am I going to tell my parents?

Jordan: Don't worry about that right now.

Katie: How am I going to tell Ethan?

Jordan, Chloe, and Alexis looked at each other. They were all think the same thing.

Alexis: Um, Katie?

Katie: Yes?

Jordan: Are you sure Ethan is the father? Some people saw you go to your room with Ethan and some saw you go up with Mason.

Katie: Shit! You're right. I don't even remember who it was. Hell, I hardly remember that night at all.

Jordan: Well the next step is to find out who the father is. We can deal with telling your parents later.

Katie: Okay. But how are we going to figure this out?

Alexis: That's a good question. A question that Chloe knows the answer to. Chloe?

Chloe: Um...Jordan?

Jordan: You know what? Let's sleep on it.

Katie: Okay.

The girls went to sleep thinking about what to do. Katie woke up the next morning to her phone ringing. She looked at her screen. It was her mother.

Katie: SHIT! YOU GUYS WAKE UP! IT'S MY MOM!

Chloe: ANSWER IT!

Katie: OKAY OKAY!

Katie answered her phone and put it on speaker. Chloe, Jordan, and Alexis stared at Katie.

Katie: Mom?

Cindy:Hey sweetie! We miss you so much! How are you doing?

Katie: I miss you too. Um, everything is fine.

Cindy:Awesome. Are you having fun?

Katie: Yes. How's your trip?

Cindy: It's been pretty boring but it's going good.

Katie: Cool. How's dad?

Cindy: You want to talk to him?

Katie: No thanks. I think I'm going to go downstairs and eat some breakfast.

Cindy: Okay sweetie. I'll talk to you later. I love you!

Katie: Okay. Love you. Bye.

Cindy: Bye sweetie.

Katie hung up the phone and started freaking out. Alexis finally got her to calm down.

Katie: OH MY GOSH!

Alexis: It's okay.

Katie: Yeah you're totally right. It's not like I could have just accidentally told my mother I was pregnant or anything. What if it would have slipped out?

Chloe: But it didn't so calm down.

Katie: You're right. I need to take a chill pill.

Alexis: Yes. Now let's go eat. I'm starving.

The girls went to the kitchen and started making pancakes. They were coming up with a plan. A plan on how to tell not only her parents, but Ethan that she was pregnant.

Katie: Who am I going to tell first.

Jordan: You should tell your parents first. If you wait to tell them, they could find out from someone else.

Alexis: Yeah. That would make this situation way worse.

Katie: Okay. But how am I going to tell them? I can't tell them in person because they are going to be gone all summer and by the time they get back it'll be too obvious.

Chloe: I guess you could like Skype them or something.

Katie: That's a good idea. I'll do it later though because I still need to think of how to tell them.

Jordan: Okay. For now, let's just eat because I'm hungry af.

The girls ate breakfast and were coming up with things for Katie to say to her parents. They decided on a "script" and watched movies until dinner. Katie decided that after dinner would be a good time to Skype her parents. Katie grabbed her laptop and sat on a stool at the kitchen counter. Jordan, Chloe, and Alexis stood on the other side of the counter. Katie clicked the call button. It rang for about 20 seconds before her parents answered.

Katie: Hey Mom. Hey Dad.

Jeff: Hey sweetie! I miss you.

Katie: I miss you too dad. Um. Mom? Dad?

Cindy & Jeff: Yes?

Katie: There's something I need to tell you guys.

Cindy: What is it sweetheart?

Katie: Um. Don't get mad, but on the last day of school, I threw a party.

Jeff: Oh that's fine. We figured you would so that's why we left early.

Katie: Well that's not all.

Cindy: What is it sweetie?

Katie: Mom. Dad. I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to say it.

Cindy: What is it honey? You're scaring us.

Katie: Well, um, I'm um, pregnant.

Cindy and Jeff: YOU'RE WHAT?!
