Katie was sitting patiently in the most boring class ever. Math. She was 16. She was in the tenth grade, but she would soon be in eleventh grade, because it was the last day of school. Her parents would be leaving that evening for the whole summer for a business trip. Katie was planning a party for that night to celebrate the end of the school year. Every one was invited. Katie knew that if her parents found out about this party, she would be grounded forever. It was hard for her to keep this a secret because she tells her parents everything. Katie really trusts her parents. Her parents met when they were both 15 and have been married for almost 25 years. Back to the story. Katie was in math listening to her teacher go on and on about how they need to practice math over the summer. Her teacher was in the middle of a sentence when the bell rang. Everyone quickly got up and ran to their busses, including Katie. Katie rushed home to get ready for the party. When Katie got home, her parents had already left for their trip. They left a note on the table. It read, "Dear Katie, We decided to leave early for our trip. We wanted to tell you that we hope you have a great summer! See you at the end of summer! We love you! Love, Mom and Dad." Katie read the note and went to her room. She called her best friend, Alexis, to tell her to come over and help her get ready for the party. Soon, Katie heard a knock on the front door. She ran to answer it. It was Alexis, and she had brought like a million snacks for the party. Katie said, "Let's go upstairs and get ready." The party was starting at 6 and it was currently 3. They spent 2 hours getting dressed, doing hair and putting on makeup. They spent another hour putting out snacks and drinks. Katie checked her phone. It was 6:03. Katie and Alexis sat on the couch waiting for people to arrive. They heard a knock on they door.
