Wut.

Substitute Teachers

Ok so like...

Today we had this substitute teacher in my film class.

And he was so STRANGE.

So usually in this class, we kinda just show up and grab a camera and do our own thing, or if we don't have a job for the day yet, we sit around doing nothing until our teacher gives us a job. We all sit on the tables, including our teacher. He also is known for walking across the tables as well. He's like, the coolest teacher ever. Anyway, so that's what happens on a regular basis.

BUT. Today, we had a substitute teacher.

SO, I was sitting on this circular table in the back of the room, just like every other morning, and this other girl who was in 7th grade is wearing a dress and crawling from one side of the table to the other so that she can get there faster. And this teacher, he starts yelling at her, saying that it's not "ladylike" and that it's disrespectful to HIM. Like, uh, this isn't your classroom, nice try. So he's yelling at her for crawling on the table, then he turns to me and starts yelling at me for sitting on the table, preaching on and on about how we would feel if he came into our house and started to walk on our dining room table. Also I was having a hard time not laughing at how presumptuous he sounded, so he yelled at me for laughing. I sat on the ground and he yelled at me and told me to get a chair. And so I did because I wanted him to avert his attention so that I could LMAO behind his frickin back.

Mind you, we're only like, five minutes into class.

So then, he starts with the attendance. A friend of mine is in my class and he called her name and she said at a normal indoor volume "here" and everyone in the class heard her, but HE didn't, so that meant that he needed to, you guessed it, yell at her. He said that she needed to be louder, and of course, people protected her, but he said they were LYING.

At this point, we're all surprised and 6000% done with this guy.

We didn't catch his name, but when he was taking attendance, he called a kid named Nathan, and Nathan said "I prefer Nate" and then the sub went out of his way to make sure that we thought that he felt it was important to respect someone's preference of names. Like, he called Megan next and he was like, "Well this says Meg, but I'm going to say Megan just in case you don't like being called Meg." He even went to the extent of saying "Well, my name's Robert, but I go by Rob, you can call me Rob" Like oh ok that's professional. 

At one point he said that he wasn't going to lecture us but then he lectured us for another five minutes like, are you serious?

After he took the attendance, the girl who was crawling on the table was going to grab an SD card from on our teacher's desk to use in her camera like we're supposed to do, and he YELLED at her until she CRIED. The girl he yelled at for being "too quiet" was crying too.

A thing to mention is that for some reason, every single time we have a substitute teacher in our film class, this one group of seventh grade boys always go to the gym and play basketball even though they aren't supposed to. So of course, they did the same frickin thing with THIS sub, like why tf not, am I right? So Sweater Bitch(I'll make more stories about her in a later entry) finds these boys and brings them back to the classroom because they shouldn't be playing basketball, they should be helping on the film shoot that they should be at.

So, of course he's one of these substitute teachers. When Sweater Bitch brings them back to the room and he finds out what happened, he makes ALL of us sit silently, with our devices away. At the moment, I had been on Shamchat with gottadecapitateme and we were having really fun conversations because we had nothing else to do at the time. Also, he turned E.T. off, even though we were supposed to be watching it. So gottadecapitateme, _paigedro_, TotheStarsandMoon, and I were all kinda sitting there stifling laughter and whispering complaints, because this joker walks into our classroom and begins preaching about respect when he isn't even respecting our everyday routines.

Our school doesn't have bells between classes, so the teachers or students are the ones who have to keep track of the time and get out of class on time. So this SUB. Someone says "It's time to go to our next class" and he's like, "I'll tell you when you can go. You can go when the bell rings." And we told him that there is no bell, and he probably thought we were lying, but he said "Ok Fine Get out of my classroom."

IT IS NOT YOUR CLASSROOM. WE ARE NOT YOUR STUDENTS. WE KNOW THE RULES, AND YOU DON'T.

WHYYYYY.

Not to mention that one sub I had in Algebra a while back...

What happened to substitute teachers? They used to be fun and would let you get away with anything. Now they're all just rude and give you more slack than your usual teachers. That doesn't make it better, that makes everything worse.  That's what's going to lead my to mass suicide.

Seriously this substitute teacher got one of the people I hate to be friendly with me, the entire experience was just so strange and hilarious.
