Chapter 1: Invitation

Edward POV

We were all sitting on the couch watching the News and waiting for Carlisle to come home. Everyone was sulking and just not happy, kinda the same way they were when I had forced and lied to them to make us leave Forks. Away from Bella. I was still kinda sad about leaving her but she was human and she's dead now. I even saw her grave!!! I'm still frustrated because I can't read my family minds still except Alice's.

I'm still thinking when Carlisle walks through the door looking through the mail.

"Not much," he mutters. "Bills, bills, Denali's and V........!" I knew one thing that starts with a V that would make him stop like that. We all did cause our heads snapped up when he said it.

"Volturi!" he breathes and starts to open the letter and we watch him but our attention suddenly snaps to the TV.

"BREAKING NEWS!!!!" It screams.

"Everyone that has been missing from Seattle has just been found," says the news reporter and she looks down. "Just not the way we all wanted it. "Late afternoon, Claire Danvers and her friend Lena Duchannes said they had heard screams, rips and tears from down here in this alley where there are all the remains from most of the missing people from Seattle from the DNA ashes. Back to you Shane."

"Thank you Diana now for the weather." We stopped paying attention after that.

"I guess someone killed those newborns then," says Emmet matter-a-factly pointing his finger in the air like a professor. Rose smacks him on the back of the head saying, "DUH!" We all burst out laughing. Carlisle stands in front.

"It seems we have gotten and invitation from the Volturi." We take an intake of breath.

"Dear Cullen Family," Carlisle starts.

"We would like to invite you to a special event we are having and would love for you to join us on the special day of Friday this week. All are welcomed.

A, M, C & I."

After that we are silenced from shock, what was this special event? Friday? That was after tomorrow!!! And who is I? I know Aro, Marcus, and Caius. But who is I?

"Well lets get going, we might get there early," says Carlisle. I look at him like he's lost him mind.

"ARE YOU NUTS???" I practically scream. He looks at me calm as ever.

"It's not like we are going to get killed its just a special event and the Volituri have invited us." He puts away his work stuff and grabs his keys and heads toward the garage with the rest on his heels. I sit there dumbstruck for a minute before I get up and follow.

Alice is already in my Volvo when I get out there with everyone else in Rose's BMW. And Carlisle and Esme in their Mercedes. They don't seem want to sit with me ever since that girl Ivy and her sister came. Siding with humans. HUH! We race off to the airport.

Once at the airport we grabbed our tickets and got on the plane. Me and Alice sat together with Jasper in front of us, Carlisle and Esme to the side and Emmet and Rose behind.

On the way there all I can think is it is a trap, we're going to get punished, they found out about us hanging with a human. I worry the whole trip even Jasper couldn't even calm me down. We are soon landing in Italy

"LADY'S AND GENTLEMEN WE ARE NOW LANDING IN ITALY PLEASE FASTEN YOU SEAT BELT."
