Chapter Thirty

The rest of the night was filled with fun.

Jack had taken her to a park after dinner. They sat on the bench as they watched the ducks swim in the pond. He had managed to sneak out a bread roll from the restaurant to feed to them.
There were a few people who were sitting and chatting quietly a distance away. It was a calm and beautiful night.
Jack seemed to adore how Amber looked in the moonlight. The moon shimmered and shined on her skin, making her glow with happiness. Jack couldn't help but pull her into a kiss. They went home awhile later, when the darkness was getting too hard to see in.
Jack drove her home, walking her to the door. He was reluctant to leave her, he really wanted stay with her. Amber could see the hesitation in his eyes, and it made her heart flutter. She smiled at him, leaning up on her tip toes and hugged around his neck. He chuckled and hugged back, feeling her hands wrap around his neck.

"The things you do to me." Jack whispered in her ear, hearing Amber giggle.

They pulled away just enough to see each other' eyes. Amber could never get over how bright his eyes were, even in the dark.
She pecked his lips, seeing a frown on Jack's as she pulled away. She pursed her lips, her eyes thoughtful.

"I don't think my mom would let you spend the night." Amber said quietly, biting her lip.

Jack sighed, tucking a piece of hair behind Amber's ear. He knew it was a low probability anyway. It still didn't make him any less hopeful. Amber took a minute to think before reaching into her pocket.

"Maybe it would be better for her to know you live right next to me?" She asked, looking up at Jack.

Her hands were shaking, but that was because she never had a boy spend the night at her house. Her mother was working overtime, so that would make matters even worse. Her mother was protective over Amber, she didn't know how she would react.
Amber pressed the phone up to her ear, waiting for her mother to pick up. She noticed Jack staring at her, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. God, she was falling for him hard. Who would've thought, falling for the star football player.

"Amber? Are you alright? Have you taken your pills, sweetie? What about eat-"

"Mom I love you, but enough with the questions. I am perfectly fine, even better than yesterday. Jack took me out for dinner, so I ate. I took my medicine. I am fine mom."

Amber heard Jack chuckle, and turned to smile at him.

"Okay, okay. That's great, honey! I apologize again for not coming to the art show. You know I would've loved to see all of your master pieces! Anyway, why did you call? Is everything okay?" She heard the worry laced in her mother's voice, and smiled.

Her mother was the queen of all worrying. It was something her mother did constantly.

"Yes, everything is fine. I was just wondering if..if um Jack could stay awhile longer at our house?" Amber asked, kicking at a pebble at her feet.

She felt Jack's arms wrap around her waist gently, his head rested on the top of hers. He smiled, hugging her tightly. The silence on the other end was not promising to Amber, but she could only hope.

"Um...well honey..I.."

"I already know how worried you are. I just...don't feel safe when I'm alone anymore. Jack will take care of me and we're going to be right here when you get back. Please." Amber said, looking up at Jack.

He smiled and kissed her forehead softly.

"Amber..I...I..oh, alright. I don't want you to be alone either. That's the last thing I was right now. It trust you, honey."

"Oh, mom! Thank you so much! I have something that will ease your mind. Did you know that Jack lives right next to us? He's our next door neighbor. So he can go home whenever he wants, mom."

Amber heard a sigh of relief coming from her mother.

"Okay. That's a bit reassuring. I want a text from you every hour, seeing how things are doing. You know my number, call it. Don't do any funny business. If I come home, and I see you two canoodling-"

"MOM! No need for details, I got it! I love you mom..so much. Thank you."

"I love you too honey. Just be careful."

Amber hung up, chuckling. Jack cheered and hugged her tightly. She let them both in, taking a deep breath. She relished in the warmth her home gave her.
Jack settled onto the couch as Amber grabbed some food and drinks. She made her way over to him, setting the drinks down.

"No way! You have games!" Jack stated, pointing over to Amber's Xbox and a stack of games.

Amber laughed and nodded.

"Yeah, but I haven't had much time to play it lately. You can play some if you want."

Jack gasped and kissed her cheek before rushing to the Xbox. Amber watched him search through the stack before finding a certain horror game. "Outlast 2." Amber giggled as he heard him gasp and put it into the Xbox.

"No way! I haven't played this one yet! HOLY BALLS!"

Amber burst out laughing at Jack's comments as he settled into the couch, controller in hand. In one swift motion, he pulled her in her lap.
His arms wound around her waist and held the controller in his hands. She started blushing, leaning back to rest her back on his chest. The game started, and Jack was on a roll.
His commentary was hilarious and he even made Amber snort quite a few times. Jack found it highly adorable as he played through the game. Amber kept her mom updated and found out her mom was extremely relieved with the fact that they were currently playing video games.
Jack screamed like a girl, cussed like a sailor, and commented on just about everything. Amber noticed how happy he seemed playing video games. It seemed to make his day a little brighter.

"You know, you're pretty good at video games. Also at commentary, I can't seem to stop laughing. I could definitely see you being a YouTuber. A YouTuber who plays video games."

Jack looked surprised at Amber's words. It bring a huge smile to his face as he laughs and nods at her. Jack had a passion for gaming, more than football..or anything else for that matter. It was secretly Jack's dream to become what Amber had suggested. It made his heart pound even more at the fact that Amber could see him doing that.
Jack could feel his hand being intertwined with Amber's. He looked up to see her beautiful smiling face. She reached over and grabbed her tattered notebook resting on the table. She giggled and flipped it open to a blank page.

"I have to capture this." She stated, kissing his cheek and started to sketch.

Jack smiled at her and paused the game, setting the controller down.

"You know, I'd definitely subscribe to your channel. I'd be the first one." She said quietly, catching Jack's attention.

He smiled bigger, squeezing her hand. He used his free hand to turn her around, making her look at him. He set her notebook down, along with her pencil. She looked at him.

"Thank you."

With that, he pulled her chin towards him, and pressed his lips softly against her. It didn't take long for Amber to realize what was happening, and started to kiss him back.
