"WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT..booty?"
- Sean William McLoughlinChapter Twenty-Five
Amber didn't know what to say.
There Sarah stood, waiting for anybody to say something. Amber opened her mouth, but couldn't seem to find the words to say.
Jack stood there beside her, staring at her in shock. Amber took the time to look at her. Sarah didn't seem to be throwing fists anytime soon anyway. She knew why every guy must be in love with this girl. She honestly even made Amber jealous.
She was beautiful. Her blue eyes were lighter than Jack's and had a shade of green. Her jawline was sharp as with every other feature on her.
Her nose was the perfect size, along with her big plump lips. Her hair reached her shoulders in shiny blonde strands. It sat clean and neat on her head. She had all the curves and in all right places. Amber suddenly felt self conscious.
Amber felt jealousy towards this girl. Sarah was everything Amber wished she could be. Sarah was someone who was perfect in her life, Amber wasn't.
Sarah sighed quietly, the rain sprinkling down from the ominous clouds. It didn't take Amber long to realize this sleepy town was known for its rainy weather. She didn't mind too much, she found rainy days comforting."Please don't do anything until I say what I came here to say. Look, I have been an absolute bitch to you. To both of you. I've caused you pain, I've caused you problems and Luke made you end up in the hospital.
That was not my fault though, I tried to stop him. I didn't want to hurt you anymore than I already did. Luke was obsessed with Jack and didn't tell me he was going to see Amber. I swear."Amber heard Jack scoff beside her and shift his weight. Amber looked hard at Sarah, looking in her eyes. She did see the guilt and the regret, but the anger was still festering. Jack sneered at Sarah, shaking his head and pulling Amber close to him.
She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and looked up at Jack. Sarah looked genuinely regretful. Although Amber wasn't even close to forgiving her, she knew she was sincere."I'm glad you came here to..kind of apologize. I'm sure it took a lot to do that. Look Sarah..I don't think you realize how much hell you two have put me through.
Luke broke my ribs and gave me a black eye. I've been in the hospital for a week. So..you can take that apology and shove it right up your ass. A little apology is NOT going to fix this." Amber said between gritted teeth. Her fists clenched and her eyes narrowed at the little Cheerleader in front of her. Sarah crossed her arms and looked at the ground. The news was new to her, she must've not known just how much harm Luke did to Amber. Amber took a deep breath but still felt her anger getting the best of her.
"I know you like Jack, Sarah. Was it really worth putting me through all of this shit just to see if he wanted you? Your a heartless bitch, Sarah. I didn't deserve any of this, neither did Jack.
I guess I forgive you for what you've done, but I sure as hell hope this haunts you for the rest of your life. Luke is in jail now, probably for the majority of his life. I don't want see or speak to you ever again. If you so much as look at me, I won't hesitate to get a restraining order OR rat you out to the cops about what you did to me in the bathroom."Amber's threat rang fierce in the air. Shock crossed Sarah's face.
"I-I'm sorry, Amber. I know it was stupid, but I kept doing it anyway. No one should have had to go through what we put you through. I promise to leave you two alone. I'm so sorry, Amber. I won't do it again."
Amber nodded, tensing her fist tighter as she stepped forward towards Sarah. Jack let her go, watching her from the door. He kept his anger in check, his smoldering stare remaining on Sarah.
"I promise." Sarah stated, holding out her hand.
Amber was inches from her, and stared down at Sarah's outstretched hand. In that moment, everything played in Amber's head. The whispers, the stares, the crumpled drawing, the names, the pushing, the shoving, the punching, the pain, the tears, the fear...the anger. Amber looked up into Sarah's eyes and smiled a little at her.
"Your right, this won't happen again." As soon as the words left her mouth, Amber pulled her fist back and drove it into Sarah's perfect little nose.
The force sent Sarah tumbling down the stairs and into the driveway. It wasn't hard enough to really hurt her, but enough to shake her up. She cried out, her clothes getting muddy and ruined. Her hand went up to her nose as blood dribbled from it. She looked at Amber furiously, but did nothing. She knew she deserved every bit of it.
Amber shook with excitement and fear. She finally stood up for herself. Jack burst out laughing as Sarah groaned and clambered to her feet. She let out an angry huff and kept her hand covering her nose as she climbed into her car. She tore off into the road, disappearing into the distance."Remind me not to get on your bad side." Jack said, chuckling.
Amber let out a shaky breath and laughed nervously. Jack hugged her tightly, kissing her forehead. She finally felt like it was over.
Maybe it was finally over.
They both headed back inside and took a minute to register what had just happened. Amber felt horrible for what she did but she also felt thrilled. She wasn't a violet person but Sarah did get her blood boiling.
"Well, Sarah defenitly isn't going to be bothering you anymore." Jack stated, looking out the window into the rain.
Amber shook her head and took a deep breath, looking over at Jack. He looked back and smiled. Amber loved his smile, it told her that everything was going to be okay. He was right.
Everything was going to be okay.
