Chapter 22 ~ Saving the worlds
~October 8, 2013~
~Niall's POV~
"Where do we go now? Back to Hell?" I ask.
Liam nods. "I think that's the best. We will make wore chance in finding Lucifer there."
That's logical, but I want to go to Zayn now. I know he is here since the war has started. I have to let him know that he can stop fighting. That I'm safe.
"What about Zayn?" I ask.
"We don't have time for him. He'll survive." Mary says and starts pulling me through the building. Soon, we are outside and running back to the gates of Heaven. I can hear the sounds of war from a distance. They get louder how closer we get to the gates. It must have started there, meaning we will have to get through it to leave.
The first thing I see when we leave the woods is the two armies in front of the gates. The contrast between the angels and demons is well visible. The black and white of their wings reflects a bit of the sunlight. And so does the blood that covers the creatures and the ground.
You can clearly see that the demons are the only once that kill. Only white feathers covered in red lay on the ground under their feet. Screams are heard every time an angel is slain, which is a lot.
The scenery is horrible. Something you would expect to see in a film.
And Zayn is in between them somewhere. Killing the innocent angels because he has to. Because he thinks I'm not safe yet.
"Come on, Niall. We have to go." I hear Mary suddenly say.
I didn't realize that I was standing still to look at the war. I wish I didn't do that. It's something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
I start running again, pulling my eyes away from the scene.
Sophie had told us to run around the battlefield, so that's what we're doing. Everything is going smoothly until I decided to look one more time at the war scene before we leave. I didn't know that I was going to see the familiar black hair and brown eyes.
"Zayn!" I yell and immediately start running in his direction. It's a stupid thing to run straight into a war, but I can't care less now. I need to get to my boyfriend now.
"Zayn!" I yell again at the top of my lungs, but of course, he doesn't hear me. I see that his beautiful face is covered in blood. He doesn't have an expression on his face while he kills angels around him. He really is a good fighter.
After taking one last deep breath I run into the sea of bodies, ignoring the shouts of Liam, Mary and Sophie for me to come back.
I dodge all the swords and knives that are being swung at me. My eyes are focused on one point. Zayn.
I don't stop until I reach him. He just killed his next victim and is standing with his back to me.
And that is when I make my biggest mistake.
I lay my hand on his shoulder, causing him to turn around, thinking I'm an attacker. I can't bring out a word before I feel an immense pain in my stomach.
I look down to see a dagger piercing my stomach. Blood starts to color my shirt red.
When I look up again, I meet Zayn's golden brown eyes. They look harsh at first, but then they turn to recognition.
"No, Niall!" He screams when he realizes he just stabbed me. He releases the blade and picks me up. He runs away from the battlefield and out of the bustle.
