Almost kiss

You're at home, just watching movies on a Friday night. Your parents are home late almost all the time so you were pretty much alone till' then.

You hear a beep coming from your phone and you scan the screen, noticing that it was a text from Jacob.

Jacob - Hey,you got anything planned?

You - Nothing much,just watching tv.

Jacob - Could I come over?

You - Sure!

Jacob - See you in 5 🙈

You - See you too,Jacob🙊

A few minutes later, Jacob comes in through the door and plops down beside you on the couch. He didn't bother knocking since you two were close friends.

As soon as you notice him, you pull him into a bear hug. His warmth embraces you and his cologne fills your nostrils.

"Hey," you say.

"Hey, watcha' watching?" He asks.

"Meh, nothing nice, feel free to change it," You say before getting up to get more food.

When you come back from the kitchen with more food, you realise that Jacob chose a clichè romantic film.

"Why that Jacob?" You ask as you set the food on the table, seating yourself back down on the sofa.

"You'll see," he smirks,making you slightly confused but nonetheless, went with it.

Halfway through the movie,the tension builds up for the big kiss scene and you can't help but feel awkward with Jacob.

As you turned to face him,about to ask him, his eyes meet yours. It seemed like time was frozen. Your eyes fall down to lips,which looked so inviting.

When you looked back up, you saw that his eyes were closed, he was slowly leaning towards you. You take the hint and lean forward too.

Your faces were inches away, his breath on your face made your breath hitch.
But it never happened.

Why?

Your cat had jumped in between of both of you and startled you both.

Then there were you two. On the couch, Jacob grinning sheepishly at you while you couldn't stop blushing from head to toe.

Well, I guess some things just never change.
