Chapter 16: New Best Friends
It is 11 o'clock. I grabbed an old book and started reading it. Reading books often help me forget about my troubles. But this time it didn't. I was angry and sad at the same time. I can never look at Baylee again. She had no longer considered as a friend.
This was the second time I lost a friend, and it hurt the same amount as it did with Tot.
I closed my book and lay down on my bed. I looked at the ceiling with watery eyes...
"Don't cry..." I thought to myself. "Why am I even crying?"
I never can control my tears. I was weak as a mouse.
Then I remembered something. I reached for my pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. It was Julie's number.
I dialed it, hoping she would respond this late at night.
She did.
"Hello who's this?"
"It's Jadeline,"
"Oh hello!"
"Listen... I want to be a Pop..."

The next day, when my mom was dropping me off, a group of Pops started crowding me.
My mom blinked, as if even she was surprised that I had made friends with the Populars.
"Wow Jadeline!" she began, "I didn't know you were hanging out with... movie star kids!"
I covered my face and blushed.
Julie laughed.
"Hello Mrs. Tater! My name is Julie. Pleasure to meet you!"
My mom stared at her. Then she smiled.
"And kind movie stars too!"
I was really embarrassed but the crowd laughed it off like it was no big deal.
I said bye to my mom. Then I followed the Pops to the cafeteria.
"Okay first rule of being a Pop is to act like one!" said Julie
Be sassy and exclusive, I thought
Julie then said, "Be friendly and just enjoy life! The next rule is to dress up like one."
Like a movie star... I thought again.
"Dress up however you like!"
Oh wow.
"And lastly-,"
Julie didn't have time to say what she wanted to because by then the bell rang, and it was time to go to first period.
I headed for Accel Language Arts 7/8 and said goodbye to my new friends.
Then, as I was walking...
"ARGHHHHHH!" said Marcy, who was behind me. Sandra was next to her.
I screamed. Some Pops stared at me. But they didn't care anymore. I was in their group now.
I looked at Marcy and Sandra and smiled.
"Wow! You look amazing! Make-up, I presume?" said Marcy analyzing me.
"Thanks." I blushed. This was the first time someone had ever complimented me on my looks.
"And your hair!" said Sandra, "I love your Amber highlights! The curls and the scent of expensive Aveeno shampoo help add to the touch!"
