Chapter 11: My Plan

It was time for the parties. I bought Baylee a pet goldfish since I couldn't decide on what to get her. They were on sale at Fishy Friends for only 20 cents.

My plan was this. First I will go to Julie's party from 4:00 to 5:00. Julie has a lot of friends, so I guess she wouldn't mind if I left. Then, from 6:00 to 10:00, I'll go to Baylee's party. They live really far away from each other, so that was another problem. Since my parents are still at work, I don't have a transportation to bring me from house to house. On car, it would take around 30 minutes to drive from one house to another. But if I try my best in biking, it might as well take me one hour, which is right on time to when her party begins.

I rode my old sky blue bicycle to Julie's place. I asked people for directions. Everyone along the block seemed to know her.

I finally reached her house. Her place was... BIG! Her house was 5 stories; she had a huge fountain in her front yard, a decorative garden, a story place, and glassy walls. I really wanted to be friends with her now.

Then, as I pressed her doorknob, classical music began to play, and Julie answered the door.

"Hi Jadeline!"

"Hi Julie."

She welcomed me inside. I was rather excited because she's rich.

All 25 Pops were there, and they were all acting wild. One person was hanging from a chandelier. Another person sprayed whipped cream directly into his mouth. I stood there wide-eyed.

"It's always like this." she said. "Well, when Lindsay had parties-" she suddenly stopped. "Nevermind what I said. Let's move on!"

I followed her. The sound of Pop music playing really warmed up the place. We walked into 2 Pops.

"How-ya doing!" she said to them. Then I realized that this is what Lindsay had said when she was introducing herself to us. I figured it must be a Pop slang.

They looked up. Then I realized, it was the brunette girl who gossiped about me to her boyfriend when Marcy jump-scared me the other day. She was with her boyfriend.

Presley, Clark, this is Jadeline.

"How-ya doing!" I squeaked. All three of them paused for a little and then started laughing. I was embarrassed.

"Well I'll check on you guys later. I have to talk to Jesse about something." said Julie.

Me, Presley, and Clark stared at each other, not knowing what to do. Then I finally asked something I actually really wanted to know, "How did Lindsay become a Pop?"

They stared at me some more.

"Excuse me?" said Presley.

"I mean, if you don't want to talk about it..."

"Oh no it's okay. I see what you mean. It's a long story though. "

I listened.

It was Clark who started. "Last year..."

Chapter 12: Lindsay's Story

Last year in 6th grade, Lindsay was the kindest, and most popular girl in the whole school. Back then, no one was classed as an Abnormal or a Pop. Everyone was friends with everyone.

Lindsay held the most parties and invited everyone so no one would be left out. She wasn't bratty like she is now.

Then in the middle of the year, Julie came. She was prettier and kinder than Lindsay.

"Hello! My name is Julie!" she smiled as big as the ocean. "How-ya doing!"

Lindsay smiled, "You sound like a cowboy!"

Julie laughed. Lindsay tried to copy her. They became friends.

They both held the most parties and dressed up like models. Lindsay always wore so much make-up and Julie never wore any. Julie thought that make-up hides true beauty.

A while later, Julie and Lindsay became best friends and they were the most popular students together.

But one day...

"Lindsay." said Julie. "There are weird people in this school. Don't you think?"

Lindsay replied, "Yup, there is the strange and the normal. But all of them are my friends!" she beamed proudly.

Julie smiled and answered, "Wouldn't it be cool if this school had social orders like they do in TV? I mean, our school is WAYY too plain. No drama and no fun at all!" Lindsay laughed.

"If there were to be a social order, I think I would be in the class of the Populars! And you too!"

Julie suddenly had an idea and said, "Hey! Maybe we can make a social order."

Lindsay shook her head. "But if we do that there will be stereotypes and competition. I don't want that, you know?"

Julie answered, "Okay, hmm... Maybe we can have 2 social classes. One for the cool kids like us and another for the weird kids. It can be organized this way."

Lindsay liked the idea. "That's wonderful! 2 groups wouldn't be stereotypical, right?"

"Exactly. We can call it the Populars and the Abnormals!"

This was the first time Lindsay had heard someone use the word 'abnormal' before. She felt uncomfortable with the word, but she agreed to it because she didn't want to get into an argument with Julie.

"Alright!" Lindsay ended. "It is confirmed!"

The Populars had parties and didn't invite the Abnormals. The Abnormals began to feel left out. The Populars also shortened their names into just Pops. It was easier to pronounce that way. The Abnormals became more and more like outcasts. Lindsay lost her desire to care. In fact, knowing that she was better than the 'nobodies' in the school, she began to treat them differently. Her attitude became more bratty and dramatic. She made everyone in the Popular group to dress up as a movie star so they could stand out more. She had changed.

"Julie?" said Lindsay, suddenly realizing her change of personality. "Are we being mean to the Abnormals?"

"How so?"

"We eat apart from them and treat them strangely."

Julie smiled. Lindsay admired her looks and began to stare.

"I don't think so," said Julie in a kind tone.

Lindsay looked at her for a moment and finally agreed, "You're right. Never mind."

Lindsay became so corrupted in beauty and popularity that she forgot who she was. Her change led her into being an Abnormal.

Lindsay was never the same.
