"She's alright. She's going to be alright, right?" Itachi asked Sasuke, shaking him.
"You do love her right, Itachi?" Sasuke asked, almost as if pleading him to say yes. The rest frowned, whats going on? "You love her forever right? From the bottom of your heart?"
"Of course I do, what's going on Sasuke?"
"She really loves you too, you know that right?" Sasuke questioned. Itachi nodded, still confused. "She's hurting. She's hurting a lot and she is keeping everything to herself, its killing her. She needs your support, she wouldn't admit it but she is hurting no matter what she says. She has been like this for quite a while and no one knows, you have to help her." Sasuke begged, shaking Itachi desperately.
"Wait wait kid. What has she been like?" Kisame asked, worry etched on his face.
"She has been thinking about ending everything. Relationship first then her life. She can't bear children and she is blaming herself for it. Everything that she went through is still getting to her. She blames herself for everything, even things she never did. You have to support her and make sure she knows that you love her. She can't have children, you'll still accept her right?" Sasuke asked, his eyes welling up with tears. Seeing Naruto suffer so much is also hurting him. "Prove to her that you will love her no matter what. Promise me!" Sasuke snarled, glaring at Itachi for his lack of response. Itachi nodded. "Good. Now go see her. She's not really herself, sounds kinda drunk - spills out a lot of random things. I'm going to get Hinata, I'll be back." Sasuke said as he started turning and jogging away.
"We'll let you get some alone time with her." Konan said, nudging Itachi towards the door. Itachi's hand flinched from the door handle a few times before he gingerly set it on top. "Open the door." Kisame hissed. Itachi turned to glare at Kisame before he opened the door softly, just enough to slide in before shutting it behind him. Naruto's face is still flushed with fever, her bangs sticking to her sweaty face and the oxygen mask over her face fogged up with each ragged gasps she takes. Itachi sat down beside the bed silently, taking her hand into his. He sweep her bangs away from her face, using a towel on the nightstand to wipe her face. She seemed to be woken up by the gesture. Her half lidded unfocused eyes peered at him.
"Aren't you pretty?" Naruto slurred out, probably a little drug-induced.
"You're beautiful too." Itachi murmured kissing her hand, making her raise an eyebrow sleepily.
"Nah... Don't be silly. I'm not pretty... Monsters are not pretty. We are to be burnt on a stick alive." Naruto slurred out, still remembering what one of her haters said clearly. Itachi frowned gripping her hand tighter as comfort. "I... Really love this guy, y'know? Dark, handsome, beautiful, smart, kind... Anything a girl dreams of in a guy... He treats me really well and I just betray him like that." Naruto said weakly.
"Betray?"
"Mm, he gives me the world and I can't help him with his... I am sure he wants to revive his clan but I can't have children. I am so useless. I can get nothing right. Those people were badmouthing the akatsuki and my Itachi and my bestfriend Sasuke... I couldn't protect them... Some leader I am. It has been a mistake... Should have stopped Kurama doing the merge... I should have just died there when Kisa- Kisami? Kisamu? Kisame! anddd Itachi found me." Naruto slurred out, her heart beat dropping from its rapid beatings. Itachi frowned at the heart monitor. "I really loveeee Itachi but I should have not said yes... I just ruined his future." Naruto said, a silly sad smile on her face.
"It's okay baby. I love you too. I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere, please baby come back." Itachi said softly.
"Itachi?" Naruto muttered, her eyes tried focusing but wasn't working.
"I'm here now, you're not alone." Naruto smiled softly at the older man.
"You shouldn't have saved me when I silt my throat. Saves the country so much trouble and Sasuke wouldn't have lost you." Naruto muttered, reached out for the man's face. Itachi moved forward to let her have an easier reach. "I love you."
"I love you too Naruto. Now sleep and recover. I wanna plan our vacation." Itachi said softly as he patted Naruto, easing her to sleep. Her heart beat slowed steadily by one or two beats every few minutes. It was now a steady 76, a vast improvement to her previous 179. One's heartbeat should be around 60 per minute. Itachi kissed her on the forehead before laying his head next to her hand, falling asleep to the steady beeping of the heart monitor.
