Chapter 34

"Are you feeling better?" Sasuke murmured as he kneeled down beside Naruto to be on the same level as her. Naruto looked up from her documents, humming her response. Sasuke looked around, an IV drip was still attached to her arm and the heart monitor clip still on her finger. "Shouldn't you be resting?" Sasuke asked, frowning at her paperwork. Naruto glared at him, a little bit closed off now - not spewing random emotional things. Sasuke sighed at her ways of avoiding her own problems. There is no way of getting Naruto to open up, unless it was either him trying or Itachi trying. "When can I leave?" Naruto asked, almost sounding like she was whining.
"You're still unwell."
"I'm fineeeee."
"Don't lie sis." Sasuke said, glaring at her. Naruto glared right back, not backing. The blond sighed and looked back down at her paperwork, but not returning to the furious scribbling. "I know you're worried about me but I'm fine."
"You're not fine." Sasuke choked out, wiping at his face when a tear started making its way down his face. "It hurt so much when you were obviously hurting but you kept it all to yourself... You're going to drive yourself nuts if you continue this!" Sasuke snarled. Naruto kept her eyes down as she listened to Sasuke's angry speech. The anger wasn't directed at her, no, she could feel his absolute hatred for anyone who did her wrong. "You don't deserve this!" Sasuke sobbed, still trying to wipe away the torrent of tears that just kept pouring down. Naruto felt tears welling up in her eyes at seeing her bestfriend in so much pain because of her... It's always because of me... I caused so much pain. Naruto wordlessly pulled Sasuke into a hug. The Uchiha seemed to let out a choked sob before his cries became louder, filled with anguish.
"Hush my beautiful child." Naruto murmured, trying to calm Sasuke down. She patted his back rhythmically, a gesture meant for comfort. It was a motion that could probably help someone fall asleep due to it being do repetitive and calming. "It's alright, everything is going to be okay." Sasuke cries softened to mere hiccups as he slowly calmed down. Naruto moved as carefully as possible to avoid pulling the needle from her arm, she pulled Sasuke onto the bed. She shuffle to the left a little to make some space for Sasuke who had already fallen asleep from crying and exhaustion. She kept the rhythmic patting pattern with her right hand as she swapped the pen over to her left. Perks of training to write with your non-dominant hand, you get to write with the other when the dominant hand is either busy or not working properly. Naruto finished her papers and she set it aside on the bed side table. Her hand was still patting Sasuke after two hours and the raven seemed content with it as this was one of the few times she has seen him ever sleep so peacefully. Her arm was getting tired sure, and she was about to fall asleep too, sure. But for Sasuke... She would do anything, even if she was uncomfortable. If Sasuke was comfortable, she would be content.
She brushed a stray hair from his face and smiled. Sasuke was beautiful, absolutely, but not her type. Hinata can have him. Hinata... Sasuke... You guys look absolutely beautiful together. Naruto thought as she laid down and slowly drifted to sleep.

This was how the rest found the two. Still asleep alright, albeit it was an amusing sight. Sasuke was on the right and Naruto was on the left. The bed was a single bed and the two managed to fit, but Naruto had her leg draped on top of Sasuke while she slept on her back, snoring softly. Sasuke looked as if he was bothered by the weight but isn't too bothered as he didn't wake up. "Dobe... Tell me." Sasuke murmured, still asleep they presume. The former akatsuki frowned, tell him what. "Go to sleep teme." Naruto muttered back, rolling a little to pat Sasuke. Konan smiled, these two were so adorable. "What time is it?" Sasuke muttered sleepily. Oh! The two of them are half awake but not really. "I don't know. Keep sleeping, you were really tired." Naruto murmured, patting his shoulder.
"Can't you sense it?" Sasuke grumbled sleepily. Do they not sense that there was a huge group in the room.
"Of course I do teme." Naruto said and the next second, kunais embedded themselves into the walls next to a few of their heads. Sasuke raised a hand lazily for a half-ass thumbs up, glancing a half lidded sleepy eye at them before turning back to sleep. Naruto had been the one that had thrown the kunais. "Let us sleep goddamit. Unless you're here to tell me I can be discharged." Naruto grumbled and the group immediately disappeared, not wanting their precious person to push herself too hard.
