Chapter 5

My heart started beating at a rapid pace.Luke eyes met mine and I saw confusion in there but it was soon replaced with fear.
"How do you dare steal from me?"My eyes moved to a tall bald man in a bathrobe,wearing dark sunglasses that had stepped down from the jeep. From his accent,I could sense that he was a foreigner,probably an italian and he was probably in his forties.
There was no answer as everybody gulped in fear,including me.This man seemed powerful.
"Do you have any idea what it takes to disturb Diego Pedroless?"He continued but still there was silence everywhere.
"Can somebody f*cking reply me?"He shouted so loud that my whole body shaked and my eyes squeezed shut.
"We're..We'r...We are extre...mely sorry sir.We will return your things."One of the boys said.He had green emerald eyes and piercings on both eyebrows.He also wore two small circular earrings on one of his ears.His hairs were long,reaching his shoulders and they were of hazelnut colour,just like that of Luke but Luke's hairs were short with few tufts falling on his forehead.
"Oh silly boy!You really thought I made all the way here for those worthless things?"He said with a wicked smirk before faking a loud laugh out of sarcasm.I frowned.
"I don't need them.What I need is subordinates!"He emphasized on the last word and I deepened my frown.What did he exactly mean?
"Sorry?"Before I realized,it came out of my mouth and when everyone's eyes turned on me,my eyes widened and my mouth fell open.I had one of those bad habits to never being able to control my tongue and especially in dangerous situations.Damn me!Instinctively,I used both of my hands to cover my mouth as I met the questioning stare of Diego Pedroless.He was scrutinizing my features with a frown as if he could not believe his eyes.
"What I mean cara mia,is that I want you all to work for me."He smirked again and it was creepy.
"And what if we refuse?"One of the girls asked.She had medium sized pink hairs tied in a ponytail and deep black eyes.She had a big nose ring and piercings all around her eyes.She was wearing a short t-shirt,revealing her navel which bordered piercings and a jean pant.
"You die Tesoro"He said with a blank expression.
Luke and his friends gave each other death stares before the pink haired girl stated:"Okay!But we have rules!"
The bald man scratched his head."Go on!"
"We need guns!"
My mouth fell open again at her words.Was she serious?
The man laughed.
"Okay.But Beware!If anyone betrays me,he or she dies!"He stared at us with a blank expression before gesturing at his men to call for more jeeps.
It was probably time to tell him that I was not among them and I was of course not interested in his deal.I was just a simple girl that had came to demand her phone back,but they seemed dangerous and I was hesitating.I exhaled deeply and went on.
"Sorry but I need to clarify that I am not with them.I did not steal your things with them. I don't even know them and finally I am not working for you."I said it all in one breath.
"Are you kidding me gurl?"Diego said with one eyebrow rose above.
"No sir.I am just stating a fact."I exclaimed and was shocked at my own sang-froid.
Everyone's eyes were now on me,staring in silence.
"Sorry cara mia.Once you meet with me,there's no going back!"
"But sir.I am just a simple girl who followed this boy because he had stolen my phone."I said directing my eyes at Luke.
"I don't care!"
"But Si.."I attempted to say but he cut me off by firing two gunshots in the air.
"Enough gurl!Either you work for me with them or you make your last prayers."He threatened with menacing eyes and out of fear,I nodded.What the hell had I put myself into?I knew that those guys were delinquents and grandma used to say that if once you had get friendly with them,there was only downfall to hell and nobody would be able to drag you back.Moreover,Diego Pedroless screamed 'Mafia' to me and I knew deep down that if I worked for him,I would only be doing wrong things and I did not want to but I was desperate.
Soon after,two jeeps joined us and Diego's men pushed us in.Luke,the boy with the green emerald eyes and I sat down in the same jeep along with two of Diego's men.
Initially,the trip went quiet.Luke and I kept staring at each other.I wanted to talk to him but then my eyes would fell on the two tall men and I would shut up.But then,the jeep stopped and the two men got out so I ceized the opportunity.
"Look like you just can't stop yourself from stealing?"I said,my voice dripped with sarcasm and anger.
"Won't say I'm kleptomaniac but gotta do it for survival doll!"He replied casually.
"Give me my phone back!"
Luke and his friend looked at each other before chuckling.
"I'm serious.I know you stole my phone.I want it back!"
"Sweety,if you want your phone,you gotta have to take a plane to France because we sold it to a french tourist."Luke's friend replied.
I could not believe my ears.They sold MY phone without MY consent.
"Damn you!"I snapped.
"I can't believe you made all this way in search of me because of a simple phone!"Luke said.
"Well firstly it was not a simple phone.It was a f*cking Samsung Galaxy S5 that I got after so much pleading from my father.And secondly,not every parents are like yours.Hopefully my father is not here right now but when he will come back,I can say goodbye to my peaceful sleeps and pocket money.All that because of a f*cking delinquent whose mother spoilt to the core!Well thank you very much.Now because of you,I'm also trapped by some mafias!Oh God!"I exclaimed consumed by anger.Once finished,I let out a deep breath and then looked at Luke,whose face had taken a change.His eyes went wet and his face looked sullen.His friend was also staring at him with pitiful eyes.
Did I say too much?
The rest of the trip went quiet again and after a few minutes,the jeeps stopped.
"Get down!"Diego's man shouted.
We all got up and when I was about to get down,Luke forced himself out too and we got stuck.
"Move!"I shouted while pushing forward.
"You move!"He snapped back,pushing forward too."Next time do eat less!"
"What?"Did he just mean that I was fat?How dared him? "I think you are the one that should go on a diet!" And I was totally wrong because he was perfectly fit.
"Oh please.I don't wanna argue with someone who speaks anything without thinking that her words might be hurtful!"
I frowned at his words.Then suddenly,I felt the muscles of my body tensed and I backed off.Luke jumped out,followed by his friend then finally when I was the only one left,Diego's man offered lustfully to help me out but I refused and jumped out by myself.Hopefully I did not get hurt.
"Oh please come in!Feel at home.Afterall you're my guests!"Diego welcomed us to his big house.It was more like a palace,painted pure white with fountains and security guards everywhere.This man was surely very rich.He inserted his fingerprint in a mechanical device on the wall of his main door and the latter opened automatically.Then he gestured for us to walk in and I followed Luke and his friends inside.
It was just like in movies,a bar on the left,a big aquarium on the wall up the couches with two enormous sharks swimming in it and beautifully scripted stairs in the middle of the palace.
"Sit!"Diego ordered and we obeyed.He sat opposite us and called for wine.
"Let's talk business,shall we?"He said and Luke and his friends nodded."First of all I want you to bring the sapphires brought by my greatest enemy from Arabia."
One of my eyebrows rose automatically.
"They are stored at one of his private villa but I don't want you to go there.It's too dangerous." Suddenly,Diego Pedroless cared for us.Surprise!Surprise! "He will display them this Saturday at a grand party that he has arranged at his initial house,The Vanderas' House!"
No way was he talking about Vladimir Vanderas?He was known as one of the biggest mafia men that existed and his nickname was 'pericolosi' which meant dangerous in Italian.
"And I want you there with me.I'll introduce you as my men but then you will move apart to steal those Sapphires for me.Is that clear?"He asked his voice very formal.
"Okay.But we need to know where exactly the sapphires wil be so that we can plan our actions!"One of the girls spoke.She had long black hairs and dark grey eyes.She had no piercings but a big nose ring and she was wearing dark makeup.
Diego clicked on a remote and the big screen hung on the wall above the bar lightened.A sort of map appeared on it.
"This is the plan of Vanderas' House and here.."He scrolled on the remote and the map zoomed to a red square."will lie the magnificent blue sapphir."His voice was full of desire and his eyes filled with greed."The green lights across the square are security lines.Once someone touches with it,the siren will be actuated."
"But it's impossible to get that!"I exclaimed,again out of control of my tongue.I mentally slapped myself.
"Nothing is impossible cara mia!You only have to desactivate the security and then suddenly the lights are off and oooppss the sapphire is gone!"Diego said with an amusing tone that I could not hide the slight twitch of my lips.
The waiter arrived with a plate in his hands.There were glasses of wine on it.He offered Diego first and then proceeded to us.As I was the first on his range,he placed the plate in front of me.
"No thanks.I don't consume alcohol!"I said with a faint smile as everyone glared at me.Then I heard a chuckle from Luke.This guy was really getting on my nerves.
The waiter passed on the plate and served Luke and his friends.I was shocked when they all gulped it in one shot as if they were used to it.They looked young and probably they were not allowed to consume alcohol!
"My guards will drive you to your respective houses.Be prepared before Saturday and do let me know of your plans before!"Diego said and I got up in haste to move out from that suffocating house when I noticed that Luke and his friends were all seated.I felt embarassed and sat down again.They all smirked.
"No need for all that.We can get home by ourselves!"Luke said.Talk for you boy,I didn't even know where I was.But I did not say anything.
When finally Luke decided to go,I got up once again and proceeded out after them.
"You do realize the f*cking hell we just put ourselves in?"The pink-haired girl asked the group.
"We did not have any choice Kara!"Luke snapped.
"We used to commit small thefts.This one is damn serious!"Kara exclaimed before her eyes fell on me. "And who's this one?"
I was about to reply when Luke permitted himself to speak at my place.
"She's the owner of that 'Samsung Galaxy S5' phone I stole yesterday."Luke imitated my voice when he precised my phone type.I seriously should consider murderer as my future occupation.
"Oh and she followed you here and bla bla bla."The long black-haired girl said.
"Shut up Anna!"Kara snapped."What's your name?"She asked.
"Lisa.Tran"
"You do realize that you just got yourself into major trouble?"She continued.
"I have an idea!"
"You don't seem that you'll fit in our group!You looked like those good obediant girls!"
"Oh please!Don't tell me you wanted to drag her in our group?"Luke asked in an annoyed voice.I was going to murder him!
"Why not?"I snapped.
"Because..Just look at yourself doll.You don't belong with us!"He continued.
"Whether you like it or not,I'm trapped with you now!I did not want to get with you also.But I had no choice.So you gotta have to cope with me!"
Suddenly he started moving towards me and I marched back.His eyes were filled with hatred.
"You're sure that it's not you who will have trouble to cope with me?"I could feel his breath on my lips now and I knew he did that on purpose because he bent his head down.He was taller than me.I was suddenly having trouble to breath.What was that?I had never felt like that before.
"Move away!"I managed to shout as I pushed him back.
"Enough Luke!"Kara shouted at him.She seemed to be the most mature one among them all.The green-eyed boy put his hand on Luke shoulder in an attempt to support him.
"Come here Lisa!"Kara said gently to me and I moved towards her."Let's go to our territory!"She ordered and we all began to walk.
"I need to go home.Gran must be worried to death."I said,my voice filled with concern.
"Alright where do you stay?"kara asked.
"I don't know the address."
"She stayed in Mr.Collins' locality!"Luke said and his voice seemed bitter with anger as he flared his nostrils.
"You drop her and then join us in the territory!"Kara said and he nodded."And please!Control!"
We walked together till we reached a destroyed building.Kara,Anna and the others moved towards the buildings while Luke grabbed my arms and dragged me forward.
"Oucch stop!You're hurting me!"I whined.
He loosened his grip and apologised.
"Why are you behaving like this with me?"I asked.
"None of your concern!"
"Why are you so bitter to me?What did I do to you?"
"Walk quietly or I'll dump you here and you'll have to find your way home alone!"He threatened.
I kept staring at him till we reached 'John's Sup'.
"I can go from here!"I broke the silence.
"I'll drop you to your house.It's too dark here!It may be dangerous for a young girl to walk alone at this hour!"He said without looking at me.I felt hurt and bit my lower lip to prevent my tears from falling.But why was I hurt?I was never so emotional before!What was wrong with me when it came to Luke?
"That's my house!"I said pointing to gran's little woodened house."Thanks"
"Tomorrow someone will come to pick you up at maybe nine.Be prepared!"
"Why?"
"To discuss the plan of the theft genius!" I had almost forgotten about that headache.
"But where will we go?"Not in that Pedroless'house again please!
"In our territory!"He said before immediately walking back.
I watched his shadow fade then I moved in.
"Where the hell were you?You know how worried I was!I was even going to call the police!Are you out of your mind!?"Oops!Grandma was still awake!
"Sorry gran I lost my way!"I lied tiredly.
She frowned."Go to bed.It's late!"
I nodded and climbed to my room.

Finally Luke and Lisa had a proper meeting!But it did not turn out well though!
