The Park is Half Woods

It was a dark night, with the moon glistening like the stars. The round source was shining over Newberry Park, where two teens were taking a walk. A brown haired boy and blond girl were goofing off and laughing hysterically. Suddenly, without even noticing, they ended up in the woods.

"What a nice night", the boy said. The girl just kept walking without even taking a glance at him. 

Finally she replied, "Yeah, but it's too bad the others couldn't come."

"But you know they were all busy", he said with a sigh. 

"I know."

Time passed and they both sat on a nearby log.

"So... Mack. How's your parents? If that's okay to ask." Mackenzie stares at him blankly. " I don't know if anything else, is going on. But if there is no one informed me about it. It could be a pain if you ask me. You know with having to keep going from one place to another or having everything at separate times. However, it will be cool to get two presents for birthdays and Christmas. It can get annoying when people treat you differently, especially when you don't like putting up with stuff like that. And...", he keeps rambling on nervously.

After her face cracking from being serious, Mackenzie laughs. "Whoa Jasper, slow down", she said in between giggles. "Your face is getting as red as a tomato."

Jasper blushes and looks away shyly. "Well you know I'm not good at this. It's not easy to mention to someone that their parents are... You know, are...."

"It's okay, you can say it. My parents are divorced, there's nothing wrong with saying that", Mackenzie finished for him. Relief spread over Jasper. For what seemed like a long time, they sat in the silence of the night.

The silence had been broken by a sharp snapping sound. They both were startled by it. "Probably just some raccoons or something", Jasper said nervously. They listening for a couple of seconds until there was another snapping sound that was closer to them. However it was a heavier sound like a couple of branches were snapping at the same time. 

"That didn't sound like it was just raccoons", said Mackenzie looking around.

"Hello!", yelled Jasper. "Is anyone there?!." Before Jasper knew it he was whimpering while trying to guard Mackenzie. 

"My hero", she said rolling her eyes. "Don't be a scaredy..."

Growling noises echoed close from close by.

"C..a..t. Okay, let's get out of here", she said quietly as the growling gets closer. They start walking which turns into running and go separate ways. Jasper then sees someone chasing Mackenzie and runs over to the figure and tackles them which makes them both roll down a hill. "JASPER!!", Mackenzie yells when she sees them roll off and she hears a large splash.

The mysterious figure is struggling trying to get out of Jasper's grasp but Jasper has a very tight grip and is not letting go. They get very close to the end of the cliff and Jasper let's go. Then they both fall into the lake. Both try hurriedly to swim to the shore, the mysterious figure has a head start and runs off into the woods and Jasper loses them.

While bending over to catches his breath, the figure tackles Jasper from the side. They fall to the ground and the figure pins down Jasper's arms an legs. Jasper tries to see their face but the figure has a hood on which makes it kind of hard to see . With spit coming out of his mouth, he says something in growling and gruff manner. "You should have just let me have your friend, but now I have you instead. Pity, you are a pretty good looking guy. Too bad I'll have to mess that up, I didn't eat lunch today." The figure opened their mouth up wide and leaned down deeper. 

"Not today", Jasper said as he got his hand free and to feel around in the grass to pick up a stick to stab them in what seemed to be the eye. He had gotten another hand free to push them off. He gets to his feet and kicks the figure in the gut.

The person gets up and pulls the stick out of their eye. "Get back here!", they wail. But Jasper ran off. When he thinks he's gotten pretty far he cups his hands over his mouth and calls out Mackenzie's name. 

"Jasper!", she yells in response. 

"Where are you?!", he shouts back trying to follow the sound of her voice.

"Over here! To your left!", she replies. After running into various trees, Jasper finally finds Mackenzie. "Come on", Mackenzie says grabbing his hand and points west. "We came from that way." Without another word spoken, they ran to safety.

"Nooooo!", they scream. They fall suddenly to their hands and knees. Their body then shifts.

Their clothes burst and hair grows all over, their ears become pointy and their teeth become very pointy like canines. Now they open their eyes and they glow yellow in the darkness.

"Aarrooooooohhh!", it howls at the moon.
