Routines had become an innate part of my life. With Connor gone, I had set up a schedule for myself and Sophie, one that allotted time for eating, playing, and conference calls. The system had worked well until Connor came home and ruined it.

Not that I minded at all. Connor had fallen seamlessly back into the role of doting dad, and took his fatherly duties quite seriously. Without fail, every morning since he had returned the week before, he was up at the first sound of Sophie's gurgling in morning, leaving me to make breakfast groggily as he fed the baby her morning bottle.

This morning was no exception. I awoke to an empty bed, and after brushing my teeth and rubbing the sleep from my face, I passed by the nursery, smiling at the sight of Connor leaning back in the recliner, coaxing milk down Sophie's throat, his deep, melodic voice soothing her gently. Not wishing to disturb the beautiful sight, I made my way to the kitchen as usual.

Today was different, however. My usual cup of coffee did nothing to calm my nerves as I mentally ran through my day's tasks. I was returning to the office today, seeing as Connor's return no longer provided me with an excuse to work from home. Normally, I would be ecstatic to see my colleagues and my cherished office again. However, going back to work now meant I was destined to suffer through awkward encounters with Eli.

We had yet to speak since his ultimatum, and to say I was dreading our reunion would be the understatement of the century.

Finishing my coffee, I quickly washed out my mug and set it in the sink before turning to the refrigerator. Pulling it open, I searched for the milk and pouted upon finding none.

"Good morning, gorgeous."

I smiled instantly at the deep voice, closing the fridge and turning to find Connor situating Sophie into her high chair at the table.

"Good morning," I replied brightly, scrunching my nose up and smiling at Sophie before placing my hands on the counter and leaning across the granite to kiss Connor on the lips.

He smiled slightly as he pulled away before coming around the counter to lean next to me. Seeing as I couldn't possibly eat cereal without milk, I settled for a banana, grabbing one from the counter as I hopped up to sit on the island across from Connor, making sure I could still see Sophie.

"We're out of milk," I said as I peeled open my banana.

Connor nodded. "Okay, I'll get some today."

Nodding my thanks, I bit into my banana, closing my eyes to savor the taste. Bananas were my favorite fruit of all time and eating them always brought me great pleasure. Moaning at the delicious taste, I sighed contently as I chewed, opening my eyes to find Connor glaring at me.

"What?" I asked, as I wiped my bottom lip with my index finger.

He cleared his throat and looked away. "Nothing."

It was then I noticed a considerable bulge in his sweatpants, causing me to bring my hand to my mouth to stifle laughter. Connor and I had yet to reacquaint ourselves sexually since his return. He had wanted to spend every waking moment with Sophie, and I'd be damned if I pulled him away from his daughter. Unfortunately, days of nonstop playing left Connor exhausted at night. Of course I was content to fall asleep with his arms wrapped around me, but I still ached to have him fill me again.

Clearly, our sex drought was affecting him more than he was willing to let on.

Smirking at the fact that I had such an effect on him, I finished off my banana, making sure to exaggerate my satisfaction with the delicious fruit. Once I was done, I looked up to find him staring again, his eyes dark and fixated to my lips.
