Dear Maggie,

My meeting with Harriet was a success. I feel that we really connected on the issue of slavery causing violence and she seemed eager to support me. We have continued to send each other letters and she is going to come out and see me speak sometime soon.

The books that Mrs. Stowe sent me arrived two days ago. I just gave some of them out after my speech today and it looked like it was a huge success. I am only giving away twenty copies of the book per speech. This is because because I need to ration out the books to give them out as long as I can. Many people wanted the book and I am glad.

Many more people today are aware of what slaves had to go through and are more sympathetic instead of taking it as the way of the world..

I am still making a difference in the world for you.

Love,

Ruth
