So yes, I realize that this is extremly late, but I have a good excuse. I’ve been in the hospital, and I’ve been busy with school. Also, I just haven’t had much motivation to write. But I finally did, so I hope you guys enjoy!!

I gasped. In the distance, a human ship was sailing. Bright lights were appearing in the sky above it, and I wondered what they were.

Aaron swam up behind me and whispered in my ear “It’s amazing isn’t it? Those are called fireworks.”

I turned around. “Fireworks? But they don’t look like fire. From what I’ve seen in pictures, fire is orange. Those are pink, and green!”

He chuckled. “Yes, but inorder to make them explode, they must be set on fire.”

Attracted to the colors exploding in the air behind me, I turned around and started swimming towards the ship. Closer and closer I got, until I could see the carvings on the sides of the ship. I was fascinated by the intricate designs. I swam around and around the ship, drinking in every detail.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew one of the masts around. It kept spinning until it finally broke off. Shouts of surprise and fear could be heard from the decks. Chunks of wood started falling into the water around me, so I dove back under the waves and got out of the way.

When I broke the surface again, havoc had broken loose. The entire ship was coming apart, bit by bit.

People were jumping overboard, and trying to swim away.

I looked around to see what they could be swimming towards and saw it in the distance. Land.

Aaron swam up behind me, tugging on my hand. “Adrienne, we have to go. If someone saw us, it would be a disaster.”

“But Aaron, we can’t just leave them here! What  if some of them can’t reach the land, surely we can help them!”

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Fine, but be sure that they don’t see your tail.”

I nodded and swam away.

As far as I could see, all of the sailors were almost to the shore. I swam in circles, looking for any bodies that were slowing down, or had stopped.

Then I saw it. A young man had suddenly stopped swimming, and sank beneath the waves. I swam as fast as I could towards him.

I grabbed his arm and dragged him up to the surface. When I broke through, I wrapped my arms around him and turned to shore.

It was a slow process. His extra weight made me tired, and I didn’t make progress very quickly. Sometime during my swim, I pondered where Aaron had dissappeared to, but that thought quickly left my mind when I finally reached the beach.

I hauled the man and myself to shore, exhausted. Rolling over to see if he was breathing, I gasped when he opened his eyes.
