Aarons POV:

I sighed as I drifted to a rock. It had been almost a month and I still couldn't find Adrienne. I looked all over the ocean, yet there was no sign of her. I had been avoiding the possibility that she could have gone to the surface and gotten captured, but I couldn't forever.

I had two choices. I could either go back to Oceania and tell the queen that her daughter had been captured by humans, or I could go to the surface and find her. Only, there was one problem. I had no way of becoming human.

Suddenly, a huge angler fish swam by, one of the largest I'd ever seen.

"Hello there Aaron." It said.

My mouth dropped open. "You talked!"

"Yes, I did. And I can fix all of your problems. I can make you human; send you on the path to finding Her Highness."

"What's your price?" I asked suspiciously.

"I will turn you human, and you will stay that way, forever."

"Forever? As in, I can never go back to Oceania, and I'll always have to live on land?"

He nodded his massive head. "That is correct."

I turned away. "I- I can't. It's just too big a price to pay."

He swam around so that he was facing me. "Is it really too big? Adrienne is the crown princess of Oceania. Imagine how the people would react if they never saw her again. And you, little prince, would be blamed. Do you really want that?"

"No," I said slowly.

"So, do we have a deal? I will turn you human, you will find your precious princess, bring her back here, and then you will return to the land."

"We have a deal."

This was by far the strangest thing I'd ever done. Walking on legs was extremely difficult; I kept shaking and stumbling.

"Whoa there! Are you alright sir? You seem a little shaky." I felt a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders, keeping me steady.

I turned to the person who helped me. "I'm fine, thank you sir. I guess I'm not used to walking."

"Ahhh," he nodded. "Spent a night at the pub, so now your limbs don't want to work."

That seemed like a plausible reason; I'd often heard stories of men getting 'drunk' and stumbling around. "Yes, that's it."

"Well, I've been there. Can I help you get somewhere? A village, city, the harbor?"

The harbor seemed like a good place to look; if I knew Adrienne at all, she wouldn't want to be far from the ocean. "The harbor please."

"Well, you are lucky that I just so happen to be on my way there. Come with me, I have a cart that should hold you."

"Thank you sir."

"It's no trouble at all young man. What was your name again? I didn't catch it."

"It's Aaron, and yours?" Though I was woozy from my transformation, I hadn't forgotten my manners.

"The names Abe. Abe the fisherman."

The city harbor was the busiest place I had ever seen. People, humans were everywhere, bustling around like a bunch of minnows. Vendors trying to sell shoppers their wares and ship captains shouting out when they were leaving.

"It's a beauty, isn't it?" Abe asked me. We had been mostly silent for the trip to the harbor, so his question startled me.

"It, it's busy." I looked around in wonder. I was starting to see why Adrienne had been so fascinated with this world.

Abe chuckled. "That was my first reaction after seeing it. However, I was a young boy, not a man. By the way, why is this your first time in the city? Most country boys come when they turn sixteen to see what kind of job they'll have."

"My life was different than other country boys," I fibbed.

"I guess so. Well, this is where I leave you my boy. I've got fish to catch, and pretty women to woo. Enjoy your stay in the city, and try not to get drunk tonight." With a clap on my back that sent me stumbling, Abe left, disappearing in the ocean of people.

I was on my own now.

I wandered aimlessly through the shops, taking everything and everyone in. When my search came up fruitless, I headed down to where Abe had gone, where the ships were.

When I saw how many ships were in the one harbor, I groaned in despair. How would I ever find Adrienne on any of these ships?

After almost three hours of searching, I came to the last ship. It was smaller, and looked like it was getting ready to depart. I scanned the faces of the people boarding the ship.

Everyone looked the same. They were either bored or scared. Then, I saw her. Adrienne

was getting on board the ship, looking as excited as I'd ever seen her.

My heart beat in anticipation. After nearly a month apart, Adrienne and I would finally be reunited. And if I had to throw her in the ocean myself, I was going to get her back to Oceania.
