Chapter Eight: Questions & Curiousity

Aria followed the VKs around like a puppy. Covering for them when they got into trouble or other AKs asked any questions. It was the most she had interacted with anyone in a long time. Uma stayed hidden from any Auradon citizen's eyes for she didn't want to be seen and cause any alarm.

She wanted so badly to be accepted in the group, but no matter how hard she tried, she still didn't fully have their trust. If only she could do something that could ensure her a spot, something that would grab their attention and prove she could be one of them.

That's when it hit her, she had an amazing idea that just might do the trick. They were sitting down at their usual lunch table; it was underneath the shade of the big oak tree and it was sort of far away from the others. Everyone was eating in silence, but she broke it with her "master plan."
"Guys, I think I have an idea." she says
"What is it?" asks Hugh.
"No," Uma interrupts "I already have a plan!"
"No you don't, you had the beginning of a plan and then the rest fell apart." Quinn snapped.
Uma said nothing, she just had an angry look on her face.

Hugh nodded his head and smirked, "Go ahead Aria." Aria gushed, as she was sort of feeling some butterflies, "Um... well, Evie-" Uma groaned, "What about her?" Aria gulped, "Spell her." Marissa and Quinn sat up, as if to listen better. "Why Evie?" asked Francis. "She chose you 4 on her list so she'd probably be the best to fully... what's the word?" "Manipulate?" Francis finished. "Yes," Aria continued "And you can get her mirror as well."

Uma was angry that she didn't come up with it herself, but she took full credit for the plan and added it to the ideas she already had. Aria didn't mind though, she just wanted to help. She wanted to be a part of a friend group, even if this was the best she could get.

Some people will better your life by being in it, while others will better it by staying out of it. Aria didn't know this, she was playing with fire by surrounding herself with those types of kids and she didn't know that you can't improve your life if you are surrounded by negative energy that only brings you down.

Ben rushed to the Art Room where, sure enough, Mal was. She had just finished her paining of two dragon wings coming together to make a heart. And there was also a paper beside her, but Ben couldn't make out what it was a drawing of.
"Hey there," Ben says.
Mal whirled around, "Ben?"
Ben walked up to her, "Do you wanna go on a walk?"
Mal sighed, "Don't you have to go back soon?"
Ben shook his head, "Today's important... I need to spend time with you."

Mal set her paintbrush down, quickly cleaned up, and then held his hand as they walked out. They walked to the place where they had their first date and dipped their feet in the Enchanted Lake.

They made small talk for a while until Ben got to the point, "Mal. I know we've been going through some rough times, but there will always be some rough times and we've been through so much together. When I look into your eyes, I get a very peaceful feeling. With you, everything seems beautiful. You've made my life amazing and I want you by my side. So..." he got down on one knee, "Mal Bertha... will you marry me?"

Mal felt weak in the knees, "Wow, Ben... I-I don't know what to say." Ben forced a smile, "Yes?" Mal was getting dizzy and looked a little freaked out "Are you okay, Mal?" She heard voices and her breathing became heavy, "I-I have to go."

She bolted into the trees, ignoring Ben's desperate calls behind her, begging her to come back. She tried to fight the tears as she pushed branches out of her way. Eventually, she came across a clearing and she found herself in a spot she'd never been in before. She looked around, afraid she was lost as she was now surrounded by trees.

Mal sat down for a minute, trying to catch her breath and comprehend what had just happened. She did love Ben so much, but she was just afraid of everything changing and what the next chapter might bring. She didn't mean to run off like that, but it was all so much to handle at the moment.

The whispering voices returned. She'd been hearing them for two weeks and she didn't know why. She felt frozen as she tried to hear what they were saying. She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out the piece of paper. She unfolded it and studied the symbol.

She had no idea what it meant, but it just popped into her head so she drew it

She had no idea what it meant, but it just popped into her head so she drew it. She felt as if she was going crazy, but she was so confused and she felt lonely all of a sudden. "Nothing lost... but something... missing," she whispered.

Mal folded it up again and put it back in her pocket as she dusted herself off and stood up. She looked around again, trying to figure out which way she came from, "Great. Now I am lost." She tried to follow her instincts and find her way back, but she found herself walking deeper and deeper in the woods.

Suddenly, she spotted a glowing blue light up ahead. She slowed her pace and approached it, as if hypnotized. There was a sense of magic coming from it. Her curiosity got the better of her for she continued to go to it. She moved some vines out of the way and entered a cave.

The blue light was right in front of her and blue specs floating around, radiating from the source. "Malllllll," it called out. She slowly walked up to it and it radiated, causing her to gasp and jump back a little. She was very confused and inquisitive at the same time. She also had no control over her words, but she had that feeling again... "Dad!?"
