~Happy Ending~

Chapter Twenty-Six: Happy Ending

     Mal's attempt at her plan to get all of the citizens of Auradon to the safe room had gone smoothly for the most part. Evie, Jay, and Carlos reported to her that most of the citizens were in there, safely, but they couldn't get to all of them.
Some were asleep.

     But that didn't stop Mal. She knew she needed to stop the curse from spreading further and reverse it. Then, she'd send the villains back to the Isle. She snuck into her mom's hiding place and tired casting the spell. She raised her arm up and opened her mouth to say the words, but someone snatched her arm and tried to take the ember out of her hands. She tuned her head and saw Audrey. They struggled for a bit, "Audrey stop!" she whisper-shouted. Audrey only smirked.

     Then Mal got an idea and whispered the spell. She hoped she'd memorized it correctly. Audrey stopped and then collapsed to the floor. 
Now that she's no longer a villain, the sleeping curse must've gotten her. Mal said to herself.

     She continued chanting, but was interrupted yet again. This time, by her father. "Dad!? What... what are you doing here!?"
"I could ask you the same thing!" he caught a glimpse of the ember just as Mal was hiding it behind her back "Where did you get that!? Give it here!"

     He tried to snatch it, but Mal pulled away, "No!" He tried again and again until he groaned, "Ugh! Enough!" Then he gabbed her and dragged her to where Maleficent was standing. "Mal!?" she exclaimed "What are you doing back here!?" Hades snatched the ember, "Take a wild guess." Maleficent's eyebrows furrowed into a glare that Mal had never been on the receiving end before. She almost gasped for she had never felt this nervous around her mother before.

     So!" cried Maleficent "You came here... to betray me!" Mal struggled to get free, "I'm here to save Auradon!" Maleficent shook her head, "This is worse than when you turned me into a lizard! How dare you!?"
"HOW DARE YOU!" Mal retorted.
Maleficent looked a little shocked, then returned to her glare, "Everything I've ever done was for us!"
"No it wasn't!" Mal exclaimed "But you weren't the only one! All the villains ever cared about was using their kids for their revenge. But here in Auradon, I don't have to be forced to be someone I'm not. I thought I did, but I was wrong. People here care about me and don't force me to do anything or be anyone."
Maleficent slow-clapped, "Con-grad-u-la-tions! You've bored me. Now if you don't mind? I'm getting back to my revenge!"
"NO. You're. NOT!"

     With one move, Mal got out of her father's grip and grabbed the ember. Then she chanted the words to undo the curse. A large beam of light spread across Auradon and citizens began to wake up. Meanwhile, Evie, Carlos, and Jay started getting everyone out and made sure they were okay. Ben met up with them, "Where's Mal." Carlos responded, "Her mom's hiding out somewhere." Evie gave him the directions and he ran to get to her.

     Mal turned to her father and let a tear escape her eye, "I'm sorry things couldn't work out. I wanted so bad to get to know you,  almost ruined everything I've worked so hard for. But I can't be around you or mom anymore. And it's time for you and the other villains to go back."
"Wait! Mal!"
She held out the ember and another beam of light came out. All the villains and VKs were sent back to the Isle of the Lost. It was almost as if they had never come. Auradon was saved.

     Ben caught up to Mal with Jay, Carlos, and Evie catching up behind him. "Mal!?" "Mal, where are you!?" "Are you here!?" they called. She was, but she was on the ground. Ben rushed over to her, "Are you okay?! Mal! Mal, get up! Please!" He moved her hair back. "All the magic must've drained her." said Jay. "But she'll be okay... right!?" they looked away. Ben turned back to Mal and shook her a little, "Mal. Get up! You're gonna be okay!" he wiped away a tear "We need to get her to Fairy Godmother! Before it's too late!"

     He picked her up and practically sprinted to Fairy Godmother's office with Carlos, Evie, and Jay behind him. He called for her and demanded she do a healing spell. "I'm not sure if I can-" "PLEASE!" he shouted, trying not to cry "Please... just try." He handed her the wand and they all took a step back. Fairy Godmother took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and waved her wand. At first, nothing had happened and everyone started losing hope. "She saved Auradon." "She sacrificed herself for us." But their sorrow was short-lived because her eyes soon fluttered open.

     They all cheered and hugged her. "Okay. Give her some space," said Fairy Godmother "Mal. It'll take some time to recover, but.. I'll believe you'll be just fine." Mal sat up and kissed Ben.

     I'm really sorry, Ben." said Evie "I really thought these VKs would take advantage of their chance here in Auradon." He put a hand on her shoulder, "Hey. It's okay, you gave it a shot and that was enough. Besides, it wasn't a complete loss." He pointed to Dizzy and Marissa. Evie smiled, "Thanks... your majesty." They bowed and curtsied at each other and laughed. "Okay, it's time." said Fairy Godmother.

     Everyone got into place and the ceremony began. The music started and people began walking to their places. Then, the music changed and everyone stood up to see Mal walking down the isle with her white gown, purple boots, and purple bouquet. She looks stunning. Ben said to himself. She was being walked down by Jay and Carlos. They wore their tuxes matching their styled designed by Evie. Everyone looked amazing.

     Fairy Godmother led the ceremony and after Ben and Mal said their "I do"s and placed their rings on each other, Mal knelled down and FGM placed a tiara on top of her head, "Please rise. Citizens of Auardon. I am proud to announce King Ben and Queen Mal." Everyone cheered and Ben and Mal shared a kiss. Auradon was the happiest it had ever been.

     I love you," Ben said "I love you more." Mal smiled because she meant it and knew that she was by far the happiest.
