Chapter Thirteen: Father Knows Best

Quinn, Francis, Marissa, Hugh, and Aria were all sitting at their lunch table. Evie and Uma were off in Evie's dorm talking and planning without them. "I feel like-slowly but surely-Uma's trying to cut us out." says Francis "We were doing just fine before she showed up." Quinn chortled, "Yeah. Sure we were." Francis projected, "We were... we were making progress." Marissa let out a sigh, "I think we should go back to doing our own thing." She was too distracted by looking at Hugh to realize what she was saying.
Francis snapped his fingers, "That's exactly what we should do." Marissa flinched, "I-It is?" He nodded, "You know what I've been dying to do?" Everyone shrugged, "What?" they asked in unison. "During Mal's coronation. While they're distracted, bring down the barrier." Aria raised her hand, "Um... Evie, Jay, Mal, and Carlos sort of, already tried doing that during Ben's coronation."

Francis slammed his hand down on the table, "Drat!" he looked over at nothing for a while "Okay. Here's what we'll do. We'll get Ben and Mal back together. I heard Ben proposed and blah blah blah. So there is bound to be a wedding, right? So during Ben and Mal's wedding... we can... we can..."
Quinn smirked, "No ideas, huh?" Francis's eyebrows furrowed, "I'll think of something!" Quinn laughed, "I know, Francis. You always do and most of the time it works. I'm with you. Not just because Uma's getting on my nerves, but I'm tired of waiting. I wanna take action and do something." She placed her hand in the center of the table. Hugh bopped his head in agreement, "I'm in as well." He added his hand. "Me too." says Marissa, doing the same.
They all looked at Aria. She hesitated, but soon put her hand on the top, "Count me in, too. I think I might have an idea how to get Mal and Ben back together." And with that, they threw their hands in the air and went straight to brainstorming.

We're in..." Hades says "What!?" His blue flaming hair burst into larger, red flames. Mal jumped a little. "Did you not... know that?" Hades turned to face her, "Know what? That your mother never told me anything about you? Yeah I knew that much."
Mal let out a sigh, "A little more than a year ago, as King Ben's first official proclamation, he allowed four villain kids; Jay, Evie, Carlos, and myself to come and live in Auradon. We've lived here and went to school and been through... a lot. And learned a lot about ourselves too."
Hades stuck his tongue out in disgust, "Look at me, I'm melting with delight. So what are you trying to tell me, kid. You've gone soft!?" Mal felt a lump in her throat, keeping her from answering. She couldn't speak, she was frozen. Hades hit his forehead with his palm, "Oh boy. Guess that eliminates all of the plans I had for us. See you around kid."
He was just about to leave when Mal was finally able to speak, "Wait." Hades stopped, "What?" Mal hesitated on her choice of words, "I do want to get to know you, you are my father after all. But we can't do anything bad. I won't do anything. I don't even want anyone to know you're here. Maybe I should disguise you."
Hades hid his smirk, "All right, kid. Let's get this show on the road. Style me up... In case you can't tell, I have no idea what the kids say these days." Mal snorted, "All right. After that, I still have so much to ask you."

Uma and Evie had a plan of their own: To find out where Fairy Godmother placed her magic wand and bring down the barrier. "We cannot fail this time. We will bring it down once and for all." Uma exclaimed. "Agreed," says Evie "Fairy Godmother trusts me. I can figure out where she's hiding it." Uma cackled, "Sounds like a plan." Evie smiled from ear to ear, "I'll go talk to her right now." Uma nodded, "Alright. I'll stay here. Report back to me once you're done."
Evie left Uma in her dorm and headed to FGM's office. Her mind was racing with all of the possible excuses she could say to find out the information needed to locate the wand. As soon as she did, however, she had no idea what she needed to do to get it.
Once she arrived, she knocked on the door three times. "Come in." she heard from the other side. As soon as Evie entered, FGM smiled, "Evie. Sweetie, what can I do for you?"

Evie forced a smile as she took a seat, "I was just hoping you could help me out with something."

FGM nodded, "Of course. Anything."

Evie took a deep breath, "I'm... a little worried about the VKs. I'm a little suspicious that their plotting something... about your wand."
FGM gasped, "You think so?"
Evie bopped her head, "I do. So I was wondering if you could tell me where your wand is so I could, you know, keep them away from there and make sure that if they're near that area, I could keep an eye on them."
FGM shook her head, "That's a good idea, Evie. Really it is, but I promised not to tell anyone where it is. I do trust you to keep it to yourself, but Belle and Adam don't want me to take any chances." Evie hid her anger by forcing a smile, "I understand. Thank you anyways, Fairy Godmother." FGM smiled, "No problem dear. Remember, success is not owned, it's rented -- and rent is due every day."
Evie turned her back and clenched her fists to conceal her annoyance, "Thank you for the daily quote of wisdom. Have a good day." She hurried out of there and back to her dorm. Uma sat up, "So? Did you find out where it is?" Evie shook her head and groaned, "Ugh. No. She rambled on and on about promising to keep it to herself and then she started saying cheesy quotes and blah blah blah," she looked in the mirror "I just had to get out of there and fast. Now I'm not sure what to-" she stopped fixing her hair.
Uma stood up, "What? What is it?" she walked over to her. "I know what we can do!" Evie exclaimed. She pulled her purse out and dug through it, "Aha! Found you!" She held up her magic mirror. Uma gasped, "Of course!" Evie smirked, "It will tell me anything. I'll just ask for the location. I've done it before." Uma probed her, "Alright then, do it." Evie held it close to her mouth, "Mirror, mirror in my hand... where does Fairy Godmother's wand stand?"
A few moments later, a picture of the wand appeared and as it zoomed out, Evie saw the location and gasped.
