Chapter Eleven: Path of Hate

Doug was writing up the total for a delivery that Evie asked him to send out. That's when she walked in. He smiled at her and put down his clipboard.
"Hey Evie," he says "I just finished counting up the amount of profit we'll be recieving for-" he stopped for a moment "Wow... you look different."

     She did, indeed, look different

She did, indeed, look different. Subtly with her clothing, but also her body language and just the air around her. It was all different.
Thanks for noticing!" she exclaimed "I knew you were smart." she patted him on the head "Anyway, I won't be needing you anymore."
"What?" Doug asked "I still haven't finished adding up the total it'll cost to buy the new fabrics or supplies we'll need for the next collection."
"I not 'we'." Evie smirked "I'll be doing this on my own. Bye bye now."
"Wait, wait, wait. E-Evie." he placed his hands on her shoulders "A-Are you... breaking up with me?"
For a moment, Evie looked down and then into his eyes. She seemed like herself. But then, she shook and her vacant stare and evil grin reappeared, "Yes." She pushed his hands away "I new Mr. A+ could figure it out."
Doug looked at her in disbelief for a minute, but then he grabbed his things and left. A few minutes later, Uma, Aria, Hugh, Quinn, Francis, and Marissa came in.
Good work, Evie" Uma let out a cackle "Now, onto your friends."

Mal was half awake and half asleep on the ground. She heard Jay and Carlos calling for her, "Mal!? Mal!?" She sat up, "Carlos? Jay?" they met up in the middle.
"Oh my gosh, Mal. Everyone's been looking for you!" says Carlos.
"Yeah, what happened?" asked Jay.
Mal wiped her face and sniffled, "Nothing. I just got a little overwhelmed. One minute Ben has no time for me... the next minute he says he wants to spend all of his time with me. Life! Asshnd then the next minute I..." her voice trailed off.
"What?" questioned Carlos.
Mal wanted to tell them, but she only shook her head, "Nothing. I just... I don't know what to do. Ben probably hates me now."
Jay shook his head, "No. No. No. He doesn't. In fact, he's worried about you right now. He's scared you hate him. He doesn't want you to feel forced into anything and he wants you to know he loves you and he's sorry for not having enough time."
Carlos nodded, "Yeah. And Mal, I'd cut him a little slack. He's got so much going on at the moment: Tourney, School, and being king! I'm not sying he shouldn't have time for us... especially you. But he's trying his hardest."
Mal sighed, "I know. And I try to be supportive, but it's hard. Everything's just so hard and so... so... complicated."
Jay and Carlos were confused for a minute, but disregarded it. "Mal, let's take you home. There's no pressure. Ben says to take as much time as you need." Carlos agreed, "Yeah, but Ben really needs to talk to you."
Mal stood up, "You guys are right... let's go."
As they were walking, Mal's mind was racing. Would she say yes to Ben? How would everything change? What was going to happen next? And who was trapped inside the blue ball of light? Who was her father? And how was she going to get him out?

Evie exclaimed, "There you guys are!" she ran up to Mal, Jay, and Carlos "I have been looking for you everywhere!"
"Yeah, we found Mal." says Jay.
"How'd things go with Aria?" Carlos asked "Did you find out anything?"
Evie's eyes bulged, "Uh... no. Unfortunately no."
Carlos sighed, "Well that's a bummer."
Evie shook her head, "No. It's okay because now we no nothing's going on and we have nothing to worry about anymore." Evie smirked "M? Can I talk to you for a second?"
Jay chimed in, "But Ben needs to-"
"It'll just be for a second!" Evie exclaimed.

She took Mal to the side, "I just wanted to say that I think you should say no to Ben's proposal."
Mal looked shocked, "You do? Why?"
Evie shook her head, looked up, then back at Mal, "You shouldn't feel forced into anything. And I don't know what Ben's thinking, it's clearly not the right time."
"It's not?"
"Of course it isn't! I mean, he can barely make time to say two words to you, let alone have a wedding."
Mal sighed and nodded, "Maybe you're right."
"Of course I'm-"
"I need to break up with Ben."
Evie wasn't expecting that. But that was much better than she was hoping for. "A-Are you sure?" she pretended to be concerned.
"Yeah." Mal says "Things have been hard lately and maybe we need to take a break or something."
Evie bopped her hed, "You do what you've got to do, M. Now, go talk to him... he's waiting for you."
Mal walked into Ben's office, not before knocking on the door. "Come in." Ben said from the other side. As soon as he saw her, he jumped out of his seat, "Mal. Oh my gosh, are you alright? I'm so sorry about all of this. Perhaps it wasn't the best time to overwhelm you and-"
"I think we should break up."
Everyhing inside of Ben dropped, "W-What? No, Mal please. I'm sorry. I promise to make more time for you. I'll be there, I can't lose you."
"I'm sorry." Mal choked back the tears.
He grabbed her hand, "Mal no, please." he kissed her hand "After everything we've been through. Please not now."
Mal choked in a breath, "Maybe it's because of everything... we've... we've been through. Maybe that's why it's time to say goodbye."
Ben shook his head, "M-Mal."
She let go of his hand, "Goodbye."

A NOTE:

Hey my OITs. Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been finishing up the end of the school year and was studying for finals. I didn't fail any! I ended with a 3.83 GPA. Also, I broke my hand so it's hard to write. Anyway, please comment and vote! Bye! :)
