Chapter 3

"WHAT?!"

"Your parents have been in a car accident," the woman, a nurse I'm guessing, said.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY WERE IN A CAR ACCIDENT?!"

"Miss, you need to calm down."

"CALM DOWN?!"

"Claire, calm down. You need to come to the hospital. I can't explain things over the phone."

I didn't even give them time to say anything else. I ended the call and ran upstairs. I picked Amelia up and ran out to my car. I called her mom as soon a as I sat down in the driver's seat.

"Hello," Mrs. Donaldson's high pitched voice spoke.

"Hi! It's Claire. I'm leaving and taking Amelia to the hospital with me. My parents were in a car accident."

"Oh, sweetie. I'm so sorry. You go ahead and take Amelia. I'll call you back later."

I didn't even say "bye" before I ended the call. Then, I sped off towards the hospital.

I arrived at the hospital 20 minutes later. I grabbed Amelia and ran inside. I went to the front desk.

"Hi! My name is Claire Morgan. My parents are Katherine and Michael Morgan."

"Oh. Hello, Claire," she spoke in a soft voice.

"Do you have any information on my parents?"

"I'm sorry. You have to wait for the doctor to tell you that kind of thing."

"DOCTOR? I DON'T HAVE TI-"

"Excuse me, but you can't be yelling in a hospital," a man dressed in a white jacket said to me.

"Wait! You," I pointed to the woman at the desk, "is he a doctor?"

"Yes, he is," she answered.

"Can you tell me anything about my parents, Katherine and Michael Morgan?!"

He looked at me with a confused look.

"I thought they already told you about your dad," he mumbled.

"What about my dad?!"

"Sweetheart, your dad was dead on the scene."
