Chapter 26

My stomach dropped. Giovanni has never asked me to assassinate anyone before. I'm a thief not a killer. Things ran through my head, so quickly I couldn't process anything. I just stared off into space. How would I even do it? I don't have any weapons on me!

"Tessie, are you okay?" James asked, trying to get my attention.

I shook my head rapidly to snap myself out of my trance, "U-uhm.. Yeah, will do sir."

"You sound unsure..." He pointed out.

"Honestly, Sir, I am... I've never killed anyone." I sighed, "May I ask why I need to kill him?"

"A certain someone from Team Rocket was suspected in joining the tournament."

I started to panic, "S-sir, I haven't done anything to ruin our mission-"

"Calm down Tessie. It's not you. It was James's ex partner. Jessie has supposedly dropped a part of her uniform somewhere, and someone found it. Winston Larouge now knows a Team Rocket member is on the grounds. He hasn't brought the issue to official authorities yet. That's why I need you to assassinate him. If you don't want to do it I can get Houston or Kirimi to do it."

"No, Sir." I told him, "I'll do it... But I don't have a any weapons on me."

"Houston does, ask him for some."

I sighed, of course Houston had weapons, "Will do sir."

"And I suggest trying after tournament seizes for the day."

"Sure thing. And uhm... Has anyone told you about Jessie in the tournament?"

"She what?!" He growled

"She told me, she was trying to do my job to show you she was good enough to get James back." I said.

He sighed deeply, "Beat her. With the way she's ignoring orders, she'll be fired here soon..."

"Of course, sir." At that, I took the earpiece out and gave it back to Zed. Zed then left to go find Sophia.

I sighed loudly and James spoke, "Alright, so what's going on?"

"I have to assassinate someone." I whispered.

"You... WHAT!?" Meowth yelled.

"SHUT UP." James and I both scolded him.

I explained to James and Meowth my new mission. I told them everything Giovanni told me without leaving anything out. I was literally shaking, I didn't know how I'd do this without getting caught. I needed a way to kill this man without bringing suspicion to myself, and without leaving any traces of myself.

"It's rare for the boss to want anyone to kill anyone... He put a lot of trust in you." Meowth said.

"Yeah, how are you going to do it?" James asked

"I'll figure something out...." I told them

James frowned, "Be careful... I'm going to be worried."

Just then a lady came up to the booth asking for me, "Zaria? You're up next to battle..."

I smiled, and switched my voice, "Again, you two are worried about ME?"

After that followed the lady down into the field, "And for our next battle taking place, we have Clarity M. versus the ever so popular Zaria Delphi!" An announce declared as Clarity and I stepped into the middle field.

I waved to the crowd around me as Clarity did the same. Clarity then looked at me with a proud smirk, "I will not lose, Zaria! Arcanine will be mine!" She yelled as she pulled out a poke'ball from her sleeve.
